POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Good morning! ☀️ As you head to work, school—or snuggle back into bed 😂—I have one BIG favor to ask.

Can you send this flyer or Torey’s voting link to 5 NEW people who may not already be connected to me and ask them to cast their FREE vote today? ❤️

Torey is holding strong, but he needs to move up a few more spots to give himself a safer cushion and put him in the strongest position to make it through the next round and on to the GROUP FINALS! 🙏🏾🦸🏾‍♂️

Just 5 people from each of us can make a BIG difference.

The dream started early. ❤️🦸🏽‍♂️

Long before this contest, I used to tell Torey that I wanted to see him become the "Black Superman" one day — a superhero little boys who look like him could see themselves in. Of course, Torey grew up and chose Spider-Man 😂, and “audition for a live-action Miles Morales someday” has absolutely made it into our acting goal book.

But our WHY goes much deeper than acting.

Over the last few years, Torey lost both of his grandparents very close together, along with his dear great-grandmother. As a single mom, my parents were my backup... and his safe place, his extra love, his village. Losing them changed our little family tremendously.

And yet, Torey keeps growing. ❤️ He’s homeschooling this year and doing beautifully. He’s smart, curious, funny, creative and full of imagination.

I wish I could give him every experience and opportunity I dream about for him right now. Sometimes the ideas are bigger than the budget — hello, real life. 😂 But I also know this season is temporary, and I believe God has greater things ahead for us.

That’s part of why this competition matters to me.

It gives Torey access to opportunities, experiences and possibilities I may not be able to create entirely on my own right now — and reminds him that hard chapters don’t get to decide how big his future can be.

So when you vote, share his page or simply cheer him on, you’re helping one little boy keep believing:

“Maybe that really could be me someday.”🥹💙

Thank you for believing with us.

CURRENTLY PLANNING MY NEXT ICY CONQUEST 🍦🍨🏃‍♂️

Torey has a serious love for anything involving a popsicle or ice cream. 😂 Like… we cannot keep it in the freezer.

And yes, sometimes I get a little mad because I’ll go looking for MY treat and—nothing. Gone. Torey has eaten everything. 😩😂

So when this picture popped up while I was cleaning out my camera roll, I could only laugh because this is Torey basically every day… looking for his next icy conquest. 🍦🧊😂 His next treat. His next mission.

And this is officially my reminder to ask Olivia’s mom @olivia_the_og WHERE she got those colorful popsicles from because he absolutely loved them the day of the shoot. 😂💕

Appreciation post for my favorite...and only...kid. 😂💙 👇🏽

Torey is intelligent in ways that cannot always be measured by a report card. He is thoughtful, emotionally aware, and far more understanding than a child his age should sometimes have to be.

There have been times when he knew I could not afford gifts or toys. Instead of complaining or asking for more, he would tell me, “You can just give me hugs and kisses.” 🥹 That kind of love will bring a mother to her knees.

As a single mother and provider, I work hard to create a beautiful life for him, even when life is doing the absolute MOST. Every audition, callback, booking, connection, and opportunity brings Torey one step closer to experiences we may not have been able to create otherwise. For us, these opportunities are about so much more than acting..they are doors to new places, new memories, and a bigger world for a child who deserves to experience it.

And to everyone who supports Torey through social media, shares his posts, sends encouraging messages, calls to check on us, prays for us, or simply reminds us to keep going—thank you. You may not realize it, but so many of you have shown up at the exact moment we were close to giving up.

God has a beautiful way of sending encouragement through people. Thank you for seeing Torey, believing in him, and helping us continue this journey. We appreciate you more than you know. 💙🙏🏽✨

We’ve been working on improv lately… and whew. Let me just say, this acting journey will humble you fast. 😂

A few weeks ago, we didn’t really know much about improv beyond “use your imagination.” But then auditions started asking Torey to respond naturally, create moments, and pull from real-life experiences on the spot.

And that’s where it gets tricky.

This particular audition involved taking a trip with his dad and honestly, Torey doesn’t really have personal experience with that. On top of that, we haven’t traveled much these past few years since losing his grandmother, my mom. So when he’s asked to pull from a “family trip” memory, sometimes there just isn’t a recent one sitting there ready to grab.

So right now, it’s just Torey and Mom over here figuring it out together. (This was a 3 Part Upload that I just put into 1 video here.)

We’re learning how to use imagination. How to ask better questions. How to build the scene. How to make the moment feel real even when the real-life experience isn’t there yet.

And I know we can’t be the only ones.

For other kid actors, actor parents, coaches, or creatives; how do you help kids practice improv when they haven’t lived the experience being asked of them yet? Do you use games? Classes? Coaching? Story prompts? Practice scenes?

We’re newly signed talent, still learning, still stretching, still having those “ohhhh, this is the homework” moments. 😂 But I’m proud of him because even when it’s challenging, he keeps showing up.

And that matters. 💙
