MAKING PLACE SPEAKERS 🔸 Making Place: Heritage in Action & Cultivate 📍 @highlandfolkmuseum / Taigh-tasgaidh Sluagh na Gaidhealtachd 🗓️ Friday 16 & Saturday 17 October 2026 🔗 in bio ⬆️ to discover more & book On the second day of Making Place, conversations & activity shifts from encountering heritage to thinking about what happens next & how to share it. Join panellists @lynnesloom, Ruth Abigail Oliver, @rosemary_jamesbeith & @dippinglug to explore how contemporary communities of making can grow from our heritage & place. Questions to be considered include how knowledge of making is carried between generations, what makes this knowledge visible & valued, what happens when traditional knowledge meets contemporary practice, & what does reciprocity look like between makers, communities, organisations & places. The aim is not to reach consensus but to identify ideas worth cultivating. Making Place: Heritage in Action & Cultivate is possible with @weareinnovateuk funding as part of the EU Horizon @culturality_project & AAS’s Multi-Year Funding from @creativescots. In-kind support has been provided by Highland Folk Museum / Taigh-tasgaidh Sluagh na Gaidhealtachd, @hlhsocial. 4 portraits of women with text 'Making Place. Last week the AAS CULTURALITY Project Team facilitated our Living Lab @dellofabernethy. Over five days, two groups of collaborators created prototypes from two ideas tackling how to improve connections through craft in rural areas to engage with sustainable tourism. After a huge amount of work the groups presented their ideas to a public gathering in the Dell’s tepee: ▪️A Crafting Connections Card Game ▪️A Visualisation Tool to Connect to the Future If you want to learn more about these prototypes, our Living Lab & everything #AAS has to offer, then don’t miss out on joining us at Making Place: Heritage in Action & Cultivate @highlandfolkmuseum, Friday 16 & Saturday 17 October 2026. Discover more via the 🔗 in bio ⬆️. CULTURALITY is an EU Horizon research project exploring how creative & culinary industries in rural areas currently interact with tourism, & how they could in the future. Over four years, organisations &universities in Scotland, Norway, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Estonia, Romania & Slovenia are collaborating to generate data to support digital archives, & a virtual platform. At the same time, physical research events are being held to listen to the voices of the creative sector in rural areas: the idea being to create conversations & concepts to help design new tools & models of working & generate sustainable forms of income for creative practitioners. @culturality_project is an international network of consortium partners, funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme, with the Scottish partners funded by @weareinnovateuk.

📢 OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS 📢 Micro-Commissions 2026 is now open! This year, Aberdeen Archives, Gallery & Museums invites creative practitioners to respond to the AAGM collection and the theme of Scottish Identity. We want to hear fresh perspectives on what Scottish-ness means today. 🏴✨ Whether you're exploring heritage, place and belonging, or reflecting on identity through lived experience, culture, memory and myth, we welcome creative and thought-provoking proposals that reimagine how Scotland is seen, understood and imagined in the 21st century. If you are a creative practitioner from an AB postcode, please send us your application for a funded micro-commission. We use the term micro-commissions as the making period is 12 weeks, in which you, the artist, will have developed and realised your proposed work(s). There are two levels of funding available. We expect to award one commission of £2,500 and two commissions of £1,000. This is the seventh round of Micro-Commissions by Aberdeen Art Gallery (Aberdeen City Council). The first rounds were funded using award money received from winning the Art Fund Museum of the Year prize. All subsequent rounds have been supported with generous funding from the Friends of Aberdeen Archives, Gallery & Museums. 📆 Application deadline: 11:59pm, 4 October 2026 ✨ A virtual information and Q&A session for anyone interested in applying will take place on Microsoft Teams at 6pm on Tuesday 8 September 2026. To attend, please contact AAGMcurators@aberdeencity.gov.uk. Prin lucrările artiștilor invitați, Malleus Maleficarum a propus o radiografie a sistemelor contemporane de putere și a deschis un spațiu de conștientizare, contestare și transformare. i love how at @romaniancreativeweek.ro different photographers see things differently, making it such a great statement about how we all see differently the very same things. here, through the sensitive lens of @ralucaciornea , the small gestures, the emotions, the little details that we don‘t get, like a behind the scenes on the actual scenes, caught in a fragile moment, or just reality, moment by moment. thank you for these precious memories! 📸⏳🔦 #malleusmaleficarum #rcw2026
