I’ve had some really great coaches, lots of experience, and most importantly lots of failures. If I was new to Ironman, these are the general guidelines I would follow… consistency will always trump hero workouts!

I’ve done more than 20 Ironmans and many have gone not so well! Follow me for tips, gear, and mistakes to avoid!

15 athletes toed the line in Kona. All 15 finished.

On a day where nothing is guaranteed, we brought home a 100% finish rate with some very strong racing. We had stellar rookie debuts, podium finishes, and some gritty and patient racing amongst significant adversity. This team may be small, but we came to fight and left as the 7th highest scoring team on the world’s biggest stage. Every performance mattered.

For now, Mahalo, Kona. See you next year. 🌺

How do we still have these ludicrous double standards!?!? I’m free to jog around my neighborhood half naked because Im a man, but if a woman wants go for a run on a hot day in a crop top and tights that somehow means shes a sex worker?!?!

What the f*ck are we doing? You shouldn’t need daughters to understand how truly terrible male behavior can be. Believe it or not, It is possible to admire women without degrading them.

When you wonder why women choose the bear, it’s because of shit like this.

We have to teach our boys better. It shouldn’t be the job of parents of girls to teach them how to fend off predators. It should be the job of parents to not raise them to have a predatory mindset in the first place.

The combination of this and the Cornell allegations have me so discouraged as to how little progress we have made as a society. As man, father of daughters, brother of sisters, and graduate of Cornell University, I am truly disgusted…but I shouldn’t need to be any of those things to feel disgusted because I am a human being.

Women existing and dressing however they want should be a given, not an invitation to be harassed.

✨ She’s back on the podium on the world’s biggest stage✨

@lznptri put on a master class of a race landing herself 3rd in the world. 🌎 Liz, you inspire us all to dig deeper, work harder, and push to seek what’s possible. An exceptional role model and teammate; this achievement was so well deserved. 💪🏻

7th best scoring team in the world, on the world’s biggest stage. 🌎

We may not be one of the biggest teams, but we came to fight. Amazing performances across the board from our athletes that we’ll be highlighting in the coming days.

The Ironman World Championships might be the best single day endurance sports event on earth. These athletes are so inspiring, so incredible, so tough. They race terrifyingly close to human limits and often cross over.

It was so heartbreaking watching @magnuselbaekditlev and @solveig_lovseth hit their limits in search of a world championship. Both pushed the race to the brink only to come up tantalizingly close. They are both among the best to ever do it, and though it didn’t work out yesterday it can teach us mere mortals a valuable lesson of what it takes to reach impossibly high goals.

What a beautiful story you both told in setting up the greatest @ironmantri world championship I’ve ever watched.

How hard are you willing to push to reach your greatest highest? Are you willing to risk it all?

I’ve been lucky to be there twice. Follow me to learn from all the mistakes Ive made

Congrats to all my friends and teammates that competed yesterday. Special congrats to @everymanconrad who is the third fastest overall amateur on earth 🌍 and @lznptri who won another bowl in her AG. What A Day!!!

KONA DAY!!!

My favorite day of the year. It’s a little more favorite when I get to be there. Second best is having the privilege to know so many incredible people competing today.

Kona may well very be the most challenging single day event in endurance sport. Gaining entry requires being one of the fastest age graded triathletes on planet earth limited to 2500 athletes.

The most wonderful thing about this sport is the people. In my 18 years in this sport, I’ve made wonderful friends and teammates. These people are elite athletes, but even more elite people.

As they embark on a truly rewarding day, I hope you get calm seas, calm winds, low humidity, and a bit of cloud cover on that run.

Love you all. If you are there, you’ve already won. I respect and look up to each of you in a different way. Regardless of result you are an inspiration.

24 hours from Kona. Wasn’t good enough to he there this year so I’ll re-live my second as a pacifier….

Big goals sometimes take years to develop. When they do, live in that moment, don’t take it for granted, because you never know when it will happen again…
