Benvenuti a Urbino!!

I am very happy to know that @_michelacolucci 's thesis project has been selected among the first six candidate projects in the international competition for the "Marzio Cecchi Architetto" award, to recall the spirit, style, competence, rigor, capacity for transformation and reuse of both historical and anonymous area or buildings.

Some extracts from the work

"Velum Hub" is an opportunity to investigate the various forms of crossing usability space that mix with the contemporary and the different architectural forms. The name from which this building derives is "velarium'' (also called velum) was a movable fabric cover composed of several hemp sheets, used in Roman theaters and amphitheaters to guarantee spectators adequate protection in the event of bad weather or on very hot days. From what surrounds it, the greatest challenge in its realization starts. In a succession of different blocks and levels, a uniform dialogue was created in the eyes of the observer and according to perceptual sequences, the complex was designed to make the vision of spaces and their dimensions ever more different. Specifically, we have 4 levels, one underground and 3 above ground for 19,000 cubic meters. The underground level is used for deposits and the safekeeping of special objects, which can be used by workers through the verticals. The ground floor consists of the entrance strip where the main functions of the hall take place, the entrance for workers with badges, a space for security, and the square accessible not only by the people who work there but also by those coming from the external . Starting from the ground level we have the central part emptied where it is enriched by a garden with huge greenery. At the first level we find the laboratories and classrooms used for workers but also to and in traveling between our work areas, with various forms, we find co-working spaces. On the last level we find the doubling of the square below to make room for moments of relaxation, free events and sharing to recreate activities, surrounded by greenery.

Leggetelo amici!
