Ramona is a labor of love in every sense. Notes like this one remind me of my “why”.

Ramona was founded and inspired based on my own experiences as an artist mother navigating the residency world. Loving the opportunities to connect with artists, curators and communities outside my own city yet struggling to find a supportive and flexible residency model specific to mothers.

Ramona is run by myself and one intern per semester. We rely on donations and grants to support our free public programming to Houston residents which includes free artist talks, pop up exhibitions, installations and performances.

Ramona provides a live/work space for each artist, curator visits, and a stipend to help cover travel, materials and childcare.

Ramona is approaching the end of its third cycle of artists and hosting 19 artist mothers in 2.5 years, supporting both Houston based artists as well as artists and their families from around the country.

Please consider making a tax deductible donation to support our mission and the next chapter of Ramona as we look for our forever home.

Donation link in our bio.

Megan Harrison’s work bridges art and science, using both as methods of observation and inquiry. Rooted in her experience of motherhood, her practice reflects on attention, care, and the ways knowledge unfolds over time.

Here, fluid ink forms expand across the surface, contrasted by structured, geometric elements. The work considers how stability and change coexist—shaped by both material processes and lived experience.

On view as part of our current exhibition at CityCentre Houston, C/O, developed in collaboration with Ramona Residency—a Houston-based, artist-mother residency founded in 2024.

This exhibition brings together work by Maddie Casagranda, Cassie Arnold, Beatriz Bellorín, Megan Harrison, and Adrian Rhodes—each artist connected to the residency as either a past or upcoming participant. As Texas’ first dedicated artist residency for mothers, Ramona Residency creates critical space for artists to sustain and evolve their practices.

We’re proud to support these artists and to continue fostering opportunities for their work to be experienced in new contexts.

Over the last two and a half weeks, we’ve held two artist talks along with private tours. These events showcased the vibrant conversations and connections shared between artist mothers.

We invite you to visit during the final days to experience these works at Throughline Collective, 3909 Main Street, at Isabella Court. Gallery hours are Friday and Saturday 12:00-5:00 p.m.

If you can’t make it in person, select works are available for purchase through our website.

Help us celebrate former and future Artist Mothers on Giving Tuesday 2025.

As we head into this holiday season, we are reflecting on all the accomplishments of Ramona in the last 12 months. With your participation and generous donations, we have been able to serve 7 Artist Mothers in 2025 through a flexible, fully funded artist residency, including a childcare stipend.

Your gift allows us to continue our mission of creating opportunities for Artist Mothers to collaborate, expand their network, and engage with the local Houston commuity by providing essential support to balance motherhood with making.

Each residency requires $2500 in operating costs. Please consider making a tax deductible year end gift through our fiscal sponsor @freshartsorg to support one or more Artist Mothers in 2026. Donation link can be found in our bio.

Four more days to experience the captivating large-format and highly meticulous works by Texas based artist @m.harrison.us ! Harrison’s process-intensive paintings mimic natural forms - like sediment, stone, and water - conveying a sense of timeless place and awe through meticulous surface-building. Harrison’s work is a meditation on impermanence and transformation, echoing the slow rhythms of the land and unfolding like a terrain shaped by both natural processes and lived experience – where layered textures emulate the way memories settle, blur, and resurface over time. “The Weight of Place” is on view until THIS SATURDAY, August 23!
