Please tell I’m not the only one!!! I was doom scrolling and seeing everyone in lovely smart outfits and full faces of make up and suddenly thought what a privilege to be able to go to work comfy. So if you’re wondering how people all look so put together I can assure you it’s not everyone!! So here I am a week before my 44th birthday dressed like a teenage version of myself, just as she is!! T-shirt @mabel_uk Trackies. Too big and very old Trainers even older @nakedwolfe This is why I tell people I have a lifestyle brand not fashion 🫣

We learn from our surroundings, not just what we see online. This weekend we took @mabel_uk little name sake to the the yoga show, mostly so her dad could help me out but I also think it’s super important for her to be in environments out of her comfort zone and do you know what… she thrived!! Day one she hung around a bit anxious, did a few classes, hung back and watched, then she started asking questions and once all of a sudden she found her voice. We watched her confidence grow, saying hi to passers by, helping customers, writing orders and taking payment and on the at home she thanked us for taking her and was buzzing about how much fun she had. She made me so proud explaining the importance of saying nope and having boundaries to some of the customers and she’d made her own version after hearing me tell others. She’s got no interest in running the brand (she wants a bakery 🥰) but she realised what it takes to create a community, talk to all kinds of people and her little world was opened up to the kind of opportunities other for her with a newfound confidence. Thank so much to everyone for your kindness and patience whilst she took charge, you made a little girls weekend very happy!!!

Joining this year’s list of Nation’s Favourite Businesses is wearable wellness brand This is Mabel! Founded by Laura Harrison following her experience of postnatal anxiety and burnout, @mabel_uk was created to bridge the gap between fashion with wellbeing. This is Mabel combines style, emotional connection and everyday wellbeing, while helping to normalise conversations around mental health and self-acceptance. From statement sweatshirts and T-shirts, the brand offers emotionally intelligent products that help women feel seen, understood and empowered. Brand new T-Shirts which I absolutely LOVE!! These t-shirts created and made by @mabel_uk, a lifestyle brand which makes a statement of who you are and how you are feeling! As the website explains. This is Mabel, is more than a clothing brand. I have worked in customer based environments, have done for too many years to mention, be it from the age of 17 working for an estate agency, to call centres, surveyors, solicitors, supermarkets, clothing shops and now bakery. How many times have you had to “Smile Like You Mean It”?!I know it’s a part of my everyday working life and it spills over into my personal life also. How many times do you want to just say “NOPE.” Also? To work and in your life… “Mind. Full” YES!! My mind is always full! These last 8 years and especially the last 18 months have been some of the most challenging times which have brought me to the edge many times. Finally, t-shirts, boxy t-shirts, relaxed-fit sweaters with a message of what you wish to say or how you feel. Not just a brand but a community and knowing, you’re not alone in those thoughts. Those anxiety filled days, the panic filled hours, the tiredness of being overwhelmed by so much. And a reminder of music and a need to listen once again to all those amazing strong women of the 90’s I grew up listening to. Finally something to genuinely smile at 🙂🙃 These t-shirts feel so soft, incredibly comfortable and durable, “wearable wellness designed to be worn, lived in and related to” I love these 😍 #thisismabel #mentalhealthmatters #wellness #wearablewellness #nope

Not your average work day. Today I got invited to talk about @mabel_uk with the local news station, about anxiety, motherhood, the pressure on mums to show up and how symptoms can be missed like mine for years when we try and just ‘get on with it’. Never did I think this would be on the cards for my little brand and thank you to @smallbizsatuk for picking us as one the Nations Favourite Business’ (I’ll never get bored of saying that)!!!! Spreading awareness about anxiety and motherhood has always been an important part of the brand and I’m so happy I got to do it on a bigger level, even if I was sweating buckets!

Second year at @ideas_fest and once again reminded why community matters so much. As part of the @helpbnk community, I got to spend time with founders, dreamers, and just genuinely kind humans, all showing up for each other, learning, and cheering each other on. I bumped into @simonsquibb before I’d even properly arrived - the inspiring human who actually inspired me to go and build @happyotterslondon As a nurse, my whole “why” has always been pain into purpose, and building something that’s for profit for good, not just profit. So many good conversations throughout the day. All a reminder that none of us do this alone, and that lifting others isn’t separate from your own success, it’s part of it. Kindness matters 💗🫶 We rise by lifting each other up 🌟💜 #ideasfest #forprofitforgood #nursetofounder #socialenterprise #foundercommunity

Phew what a mad week for PURR! 🙀 Feline first aid training with @bluebellpetcarefirstaid on Sunday, teddy cut professional knowledge exchange workshops on Monday with some amazing colleagues from across the border, and then Ideas Fest Tuesday-Friday now before I’ll take the salon back Saturday from Caitlin for a little break for her before it’s all hands on for PURR Day Out on Sunday! 😅 We all might need a really big cat nap after this!! 😹 Honestly, I am absolutely bubbling over with enthusiasm and inspiration for the road ahead after this week. PURR has been such a massive learning curve for me having always been a cat gal but not a business owner, so the advice, patience, mentorship, and hyping up I’ve received over these past few years has allowed me to grow in ways I never expected to. The world can have a way of making you feel small, silly, and too ambitious for your own good, but putting myself in spaces and around people that directly buck this (and marrying one of them 🤭) has forced me to block out those ‘stay in your lane’ nay-sayers and become what truly feels like the best version of myself. Thank you all for being on this wild ride with us, there is so much more to come and I can’t wait for you to hear what’s next very soon 👀 🤫

Nope definitely not, although @mabel_uk did get a few new followers… hi!!! When I posted the reel about someone wanting a photo with my and their baby 😂 I thought it would do ok as it’s pretty funny but not 60k and growing… I also knew that it wouldn’t mean my brand blowing up overnight. Going viral doesn’t mean the right people, at the right time. Some people can purposely create those viral moments but not me sadly 😩 Community take time, connection takes time and building a brand takes f@#king ages. I’ve seen a few amazing growth stories on here and although it’s inspirational, there’s alot of hard work that has gone into these ‘overnight’ successes. Please don’t think they showed up, posted a good reel and boom. If it was that easy everyone would be doing it. If you do see a little brand doing their thing on here, please like or share, there’s almost certainly a reluctant founder filming on their iPhone arguing with their partner about why they can’t take a decent photo (true story)
