POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

At the end of every soundtrack I do I keep a memento of working on it - whether it’s a prop, a signed score or whatever. When we premiered Charlie Harper at @tiff_net last year we all went out for a gorgeous meal. Amazing food, amazing company. Everyone thought I was weird getting them all to sign a menu. But I’m just weird in general 🤓

Let’s play spot the signatures!

Charlie Harper is out in theaters now. Feat. @emiliajonesy & @therealnickrobinson . Soundtrack coming soon… 👀

What if the thing you fall in love with about someone eventually becomes the thing that frustrates you most?

That’s something I asked Charlie Harper co-director Mac Eldridge about, especially in the way Harper’s perception of Charlie changes over the course of their relationship.

His answer gets right to the heart of what I think the film does so well: sometimes the person doesn’t completely change. The way we see them does.

Full conversation with Mac Eldridge is out now on The Cinephile Mind. Charlie Harper now playing in select theaters.

The opening day of Charlie Harper in theaters could not have been more perfect. On the phone to @mac_eldridge and Tom (co-director) calls. Who do I hang up on? #therecanbeonlyone

Never worked with 2 directors before, and was amazing seeing them both so on the page. It didn’t matter who I spoke to, their vision was so aligned 🫶🎬

Charlie Harper understands that sometimes the most painful memories are also the ones we hold onto the tightest.

The two leads give what might be my favorite performances from either of them, and the film’s nonlinear storytelling beautifully captures the way we actually remember relationships. Not chronologically, but through moments, feelings, and fragments that take on new meaning as time passes.

There are shades of Blue Valentine here, but Charlie Harper very much finds an emotional identity of its own. Quiet, intimate, and beautifully acted.
