🎬 50 ans de passion pour le cinéma belge à Moustier-sur-Sambre !  🇧🇪 Un grand merci à Michel Grandmaison, Président du Festival, pour son accueil chaleureux lors de cette 38e édition. J’ai eu le plaisir de découvrir des œuvres de grande qualité, tant en court-métrage qu’en long-métrage. Ce qui fait la force du Festival de Moustier, c’est aussi sa convivialité : on y découvre de beaux films, mais surtout, on y rencontre celles et ceux qui les font vivre, dans un esprit de partage et de proximité. La Province de Namur est fière de soutenir ce rendez-vous culturel qui fait rayonner notre cinéma et notre territoire ! 👏

Sinds dit weekend draait ‘Coward’ in de Nederlandse bioscopen. De nieuwe film van Lukas Dhont, bekend van ‘Close’ en ‘Girl’, vertelt het verhaal van twee jonge soldaten die tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog verliefd worden op elkaar.   Aan het front ontmoet Pierre, een verlegen boerenzoon, de flamboyante Francis, die met theatervoorstellingen de soldaten probeert op te vrolijken. Terwijl de oorlog doorgaat, groeit er tussen de twee mannen een bijzondere liefde. De film viel eerder al in de prijzen op het filmfestival van Cannes, waar hoofdrolspelers Emmanuel Macchia en Valentin Campagne samen de prijs voor Beste Acteur wonnen.   Beeld: @mubi | #coward #lukasdhont

The Soldiers of COWARD One of the biggest challenges in designing the costumes for COWARD was bringing an entire platoon of soldiers to life. Although they all wore the same military uniform, we wanted each soldier to feel like an individual. Every uniform needed to tell its own story, trough its fit, the way it was worn, and the traces of wear and tear. Fortunate, we were guided by historians and given access to rare archival black and white photographs, some of which had never seen the light of day. The images became an invaluable part of my research. We made some deliberate creative choices along the way. We refined the silhouette, adjusted the shades of red and green and carefully selected their numbers on the uniform. While remaining deeply respectful of the historical context, we also wanted to leave room for our own cinematic interpretation. These uniforms went through so much: from digging graves to life in trenches, from moments of entertainment to the horrors of no man’s land. Shout out to all the actors and extras who brought these soldiers to life 🍀🪖❤️‍🔥! En 1916, derrière le front belge, deux jeunes soldats montent des spectacles pour oublier la guerre, ne serait-ce qu’un instant. 🎭 Après Girl et Close, Lukas Dhont revient avec LES BRAVES, présenté en avant-première à Arras : une histoire d’amour et de liberté où l’art essaie de tenir tête à la brutalité du monde. Pierre veut faire ses preuves au combat. Puis il rencontre Francis, qui organise des spectacles pour soutenir le moral des troupes. Entre eux s’ouvre une échappée, fragile et lumineuse, au milieu du chaos. C’est cette idée qui nous touche particulièrement : quand tout pousse à la violence, créer, jouer et aimer deviennent déjà une façon de résister. Le réalisateur Lukas Dhont et les comédiens Emmanuel Macchia et Valentin Campagne seront à Arras pour présenter le film et vous rencontrer. Festival Lumière 2026 ✨🎬 . . Encore une belle édition qui se termine, remplie de souvenirs merveilleux, entre passionnés du 7eme art et artistes passionnants. Merci au festival pour la confiance et les privilèges de présenter des talents, des films passionnants, de vivre le cinéma à fond. Cette année j’ai pu accueillir Tsui Hark, Michèle Ray-Gravas accompagnée de Costa Gavras et Delphine Mantoulet, Claude Lelouch et Antoine Sire, Todd Haynes et sa productrice Christine Vachon, Agnès Jaoui, Nadine Labaki, Danièle Thompson, Audrey Diwan, Radu Mihaileanu, mon ami Lukas Dhont et ses comédiens Emmanuel Macchia et Valentin Campagne, mais aussi assister à des masterclass passionnantes (Todd Haynes, Nadine Labaki, Caleb Deschanel) et présenter 8 films avec un public bienveillant et passionné. J’ai été tellement bien entouré, entre collègues, présentateurs et merveilleux bénévoles … merci à tous ! Vive les festivals qui nous rappellent qu’on peut partager un peu de magie dans une salle obscure. ✨🎬

MUBI hosted a special screening of ‘Coward’, followed by a Q&A with director Lukas Dhont and actors Emmanuel Macchia and Valentin Campagne, moderated by Emma Corrin, the actor most known for The Crown and Nosferatu. Set in the trenches of the First World War, Dhont’s third feature follows a young recruit who falls in love with the leader of his regiment’s theatre troupe, finding in performance a refuge from the violence around him. The film premiered in competition at Cannes this year, where Macchia and Campagne shared the Best Actor prize, and it has since been selected as Belgium’s entry for the Academy Awards.  ‘Coward’ arrives in UK cinemas on 1 January.
