The absurdity, terror, & beauty of flying—

Cloud-hopping & surfing across mountain ranges. Swooping down over the highest peaks & ridges to hoot & holler “BONJOUR!” down to unsuspecting hikers. Or sweeping low past the sound of cowbells to scrape lift from cow-farts

Falling out of the sky & landing in comically random fields, mountainsides, & distant towns, with no clue whatsoever how to get home. Leading to pilgrimages across the countryside, clever hitchhiking tactics, & greeting lots of new faces. Alex managed to land all the way in Switzerland

Sweating through ski gear in 80 degree heat before takeoff only to de-pants yourself while shivering your ass off, scared & in turbulence, thousands of feet up in the clouds because you’re convinced your catheter just failed & you pissed yourself

02. A glider plane passes directly under me. There were multiple instances of this with glider planes, helicopters, & a single prop airplane that damn near hit me

03. Looking down over peaks across the Aravis Col from cloudbase

04-05. An old friend of Johannes’ who, with a loose at best discernible plan, was on a journey to fly across all of the Alps with nothing but a tent, the wind, & whatever he could carry on his back. He broke off from his group to make a detour West towards Annecy, with faith that he would see his friends again.

Nora & Michael are the easiest people in the world to celebrate, and it most definitely does not hurt that they know how to throw an absolutely insane party. Cheers to the Indelicatos now & every Valentine’s Day to come xo

Accidentally sent a roll of film through the washing machine with my last few weeks of photos on it. Managed to get a couple scans back from it. #35mm #Arizona #portra400
