Making a swing change while hitting normal golf balls at full speed, watching the flight and judging every result. That asks a lot of you. You are trying to create an unfamiliar movement, find the strike and produce a shot you are happy with, all at the same time. When the first few balls come out poorly, it is easy to abandon the change before it has had much chance to develop. We have been working on a more progressive way of approaching this. Start slowly enough to understand the movement and establish a useful feel. Then add speed without the complication of hitting a ball, bringing your power profile back into the swing as you do it. From there, gradually introduce contact and precision through larger objects, a ball into a net and eventually normal ball flight. How quickly you move through the stages depends on what the movement can survive. If it disappears when you add speed or contact, you have found the area that needs more work. Making the task increasingly difficult from there will usually pull you back towards the movement you already know. Good shots on the range are encouraging, but there is still more to test. Take the alignment mat away, change clubs and targets, then introduce slopes, wind and different lies. After that comes the golf course, where you have one attempt and the result carries a consequence. As the movement becomes more established, it should need less supervision. Eventually, you should be able to give your attention back to the shot in front of you without losing the change you have developed. If you are working on a swing change, pay attention to the point where it starts to disappear. That tells you where your practice needs to stay. #MacroGolf #GolfSwing #GolfPractice #GolfCoaching #golfperformance

Very close to winning the order of merit on @clutchprotour tier 2 for @ryanharmer1 an excellent last round of the UK season of -6 gave him a great chance but it wasn’t to be! All part of the bigger plan, accept and understand it was always part of the bigger picture. You won’t have seen many bigger changes in human beings in the space of 10 months since meeting and coming to work with us @macrogolf_ Proud of you mate… but you know what’s to come 👊

Building brick by brick 🧱 and it’s starting to come together! The face on view is the biggest change 😳 I’ve been working on my lower body movements with @macrogolf_ and @sam_macrogolf to create the right shift in pressure on the downswing. My right knee used to push out but now I’m able to move inside instead 🙌🏽 hopefully @chrisryangolf approves. Golf can be so much more than a game. ⛳️ Jorge and Dylan Farquhar are part of our Online Golf College programme, which has given them the flexibility to continue their education while working closely with @joe_macrogolf, @ian.parkerpga and the team at @knebworthgolfclub. Through their commitment, hard work and the support of those around them, they have reduced their handicaps from 36 to an incredible 5. Their progress is even more remarkable given the heartbreaking loss of both of their parents. Their story is a powerful reminder of how golf can provide purpose, structure, direction and a supportive community during the most difficult periods of life. It can also open doors to future careers, qualifications and opportunities within the sport. We are incredibly proud of Jorge and Dylan, not only for the golfers they are becoming, but for the resilience, determination and character they continue to show. This is the power of golf. 💙 #OnlineGolfCollege #GolfCollege #JuniorGolf #GolfDevelopment #GolfEducation KnebworthGolfClub MacroGolf FutureInGolf GolfCommunity StudentSuccess

This is why this game drives you nuts. You feel like you should be better than you are. You also are not performing as well as you know you can. That’s a double gap that multiplies the frustration everytime you tee it up. Not sure if this is meant to make you feel better or worse. Sorry if it’s the latter. #golf

Hitting balls isn’t the same as practising. Purposeful practice beats mindless repetition every time. Before your next range session ask yourself one question: “What am I trying to improve today?” One clear objective can completely change the quality of your practice. Most golfers think they know why they aren’t scoring lower. In reality, they’re often fixing the wrong problem. Your swing might not be the biggest thing holding you back. It could be your wedge play. Your strategy. Your short game. Your practice. Measure first. Improve second. The best golfers don’t hit perfect shots. They simply recover better. Manage the course better. Make fewer costly mistakes. Golf isn’t about perfection. Most golfers don’t need another lesson. They need a plan. The biggest improvements happen when every practice session, lesson and round of golf is working towards the same objective—not when you’re constantly searching for the next swing tip. The question isn’t, “What should I fix?” It’s, “What’s actually holding my scoring back?” ⛳️ Improve with purpose, not guesswork.
