track 11 — calico coal

probably one of the most fun ones to style, shoot, and write. written with @maddiel0u and @ctgrooves 💃🏻 we dove into california history and heritage to weave together a story of the coal miners from calico, california. these two are fearless in stepping outside of the nashville norms and i’m grateful for that. cheers to not writing in a box.

@patlyonsmusic made it make perfect sense in the studio with twin fiddles to kick it off 🤌🏼🎻 @combsmattstrings

@annaclairebeasley @macy_tapp on visuals + @lylahadore on hair, makeup, and hype. we went back to where i’m from, my roots, to bring this one to life and I can’t imagine a better scenario. thank you ladies.

slowly but surely i’m getting this series of photos done!! couple more to go. almost a year of this record, wow.

this time last year we were creating some insane visuals for my record, Tales of the Dark West🐎 here are some of my favorite behind the scenes that were captured by the wonderful and kind @macy_tapp throughout that week.

I love these gals so much. @annaclairebeasley showed up and not only carried out the vision I had for this but also brought so much of her own because of the passion she had not only for her job, but also for this record. and that means the world. @lylahadore never ceases to amaze me and also we just have the best time together every. single. time. one of the hardest workers I know, hands down. thankful for you girls. swipe to the end for my all-time favorite photo of delilah😆💘

ONE LAST EPIC SUMMER (Part 2)

The Lord has been at work. He has broken me down and rebuilt my heart. If I thought college was a humbling experience, it doesn’t even come close to the level God has now brought me to as a quasi-adult. Here’s what’s funny: how freeing it feels to be humbled by God.

I have grown to find all of my contentment in the Lord. My love for him has grown so deep I can hardly describe it. He is my first and greatest love. He is my rock and my comforter. Being held in His arms gives me the freedom to set my feet firmly wherever He places them with confidence that He alone will either keep me there or move me. All of my blessings are from Him. I’ve reached this point in my life where I will listen to a sermon and if the pastor starts to very eloquently explain God’s love for me I’ll tear up every single time. Hymns tug at my heart like they never have before. I have this new, emotional bond with Jesus that brings me to a breaking point every time I kneel to him in prayer.

Here’s what I’ve learned: we never arrive. My soul will long for heaven every day that I live. Heartbreak and grief have come, and I will yearn for the day when I finally get to be in God’s presence, no buffer or barrier or sin to keep us at arms length anymore. There will be laughter and parties and joy along the way, I am confident I will experience blessings from God on earth. I get glimpses of heaven enough that I can taste it. But I should also expect for this life on earth to hold daily reminders that this is not my home. Riches and accolades and “fun” will never fully satisfy. That which is eternal is my true treasure.

What a sweet, sweet season of life this is! To get to travel and visit friends on the weekend, to live on the lake, to have a young, healthy body, and to design homes for a living. This phase of life is full of tons of spontaneous fun, new opportunities and experiences and a ridiculous accumulation of Hill House dresses. I don’t know how long my life on earth will be, none of us do. And while I’m just so grateful for this life the Lord has given me and all the blessings and joy it holds, my prayer is still

Come, Lord Jesus, come.

Hi! It’s Macy, part of the sibling dynamic duo (hehe @pierce_tapp) and the official social media coach. Turns out, if you want to run a 100 miles, you need a running coach and someone to teach you how to use emojis.

We need YOUR help! Can you follow my dad, so that he can share his story with more people?
