It’s been a month since I turned that thesis in, filled that gas tank up and graduated with my masters ;)

The part where I get to work at Cranbrook is over. The last 8 months were a joy that I'm really grateful I had the opportunity and time to take. I got to work really hard on things I loved and make friends who were just as passionate while doing it, which is all I've ever really wanted.

I had to discard certain things along the way, and that was great too. Moving out of the studio meant making room in my storage, where all the duds from last year resided. I threw them out. The dumpster ate their bodies, but their lessons will remain. And it felt good.

I've made a few 8x10 acrylic paintings on panel as parting gifts for a few people. A goodbye for now, but not forever.

Happy spring everyone! The gallery has been on break for the past couple of months. We will open up again this summer and have an exciting lineup of exhibitions. In the meanwhile here is a recap of the artists we showed in 2025. I’m grateful for these talented artists who shared their work with us and with the community. Thank you all. 😊🌺 (Artists are tagged on bottom left of each photo) #alternativeartspace #microgallery #smallartspace #artistexhibit #artistcommunity

Did you know? Detroit Artists Market was founded in 1932, coincidentally the same year Cranbrook Academy of Art was officially sanctioned to grant degrees. Originally named the Detroit Young Artists Market, the gallery was created to provide a source of income for artists under the age of 30.

Now in its 60th year, Detroit Artists Market's Annual Scholarship Awards & Exhibition reflects its continued commitment to fostering creative excellence in Metro Detroit and supporting the next generation of artists. The Scholarship Awards & Exhibition rotates between the Academy, the College for Creative Studies, and Wayne State University each year.

🎉 Please join @detroitartistsmarket and @cranbrook_art for the opening of the 2026 Annual Scholarship Awards & Exhibition next Friday, April 17 (day before OPEN STUDIOS) from 5 to 8pm.

📅 The exhibition will be on view from April 17 through May 16, with an artist talk on Saturday, May 2 from 1 to 3pm.
