So excited that I was able to attend the Washington University Doctor of Audiology white coat ceremony for my niece Maddie Rayner last night alongside her aunt Katie, nana Marge & best friend Sarah.

Next up … graduation for Dr. Maddie in 2029! 🥼

It’s hard to believe that 5 months ago, Beth Sullivan Rayner arrived in Denver - overwhelmed by chaos & uncertainty as she was forced out of war torn Bahrain with only a single suitcase and backpack.

I can’t imagine what it’s like to leave all your possessions (home and classroom) behind with no clear answers if or when you will be reunited with them, whether you would be teaching again and where in the world you may be placed.

But, as she does, Beth took it all in stride and found ways to enjoy herself through travel and spending time with her favorite sister. 😉

Selfishly, I was excited to be her ‘safe haven’ and have her here. We haven’t been together in the same space this long since high school - and we didn’t even come close to killing each other! 🤪 But, because I always try to find the silver lining in most situations, it was a huge blessing she was here for some significant moments … attending her niece Kendall’s college graduation, watching her nephew Skyler’s spelling (S2C) sessions, meeting our new puppy Ryder and sitting with me at the ER during my unexpected appendectomy to name just a few!

While I was sad to say goodbye to her this afternoon, I’m thrilled that all seems to have worked out for her next living & teaching adventure in Germany.

Now, once she’s settled, it will be MY turn to visit! 🇩🇪

Candlelight this year was short lived but still so magical! Got to sing for the first time with Jordan Fisher, Susan Egan and Brenden Frasier, as well as sing with some lovely friends. Merry belated Christmas! 🎄💛🌟
