A CMT Next Women of Country artist and Grand Ole Opry performer, @kalieshorr knows how to make an impact. But at the 2026 Women Who Rock Benefit Concert, she gave us something truly unforgettable.

During our Survivors Who Rock moment, Kalie delivered a deeply emotional performance of her anthem, “Fight Like a Girl.” As the daughter of a breast cancer survivor, this song carries a meaning that goes far beyond the music.

For every woman who has fought, who continues to fight, and who reminds us what true strength looks like, this moment was for you.

Join Cancer Bridges in partnership with UPMC Magee Bone and Joint Center and UPMC Wellness Center for Bone and Joint Health for a four-part educational series exploring how food choices can support your health, strengthen bones and joints, and promote wellness. The series also includes an in-person screening opportunity!

Today is Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day.

I tested positive shortly after my 18th birthday for the BRCA2 breast cancer gene. Breast reconstruction is personal, and there isn’t one path that’s right for everyone. I chose the preventive route and opted for a preventive double mastectomy shortly before my 28th birthday and I chose to utilize my own body’s tissue for reconstruction which resulted in multiple surgeries over a year and a longer recovery time.

This was one of the hardest things I have ever gone through. From feeling lonely, to not having anyone my age relate to what I’m going through, my family all living down in Texas, from getting a seroma and having over 50ml of fluid drained from my body, my drains falling out, pain, lots of pain and a unsure feeling of how to feel in my new body.

I’m beyond thankful for @mageewomens for the care they showed throughout this entire process, and for @keepabreast for sending me a treasure chest kit to cast my breasts before I lost them and for everything in between, and for the women behind KAB @shaneyjo for being the women she is and for letting me volunteer in the KAB booth at @vanswarpedtour last year like I would growing up. Being able to connect with so many women who related to what I have been through was so healing.

Life is short, and this was truly an eye-opening experience in more ways than one. #brca2

I am screaming into the void with anger and pain. My body is swollen from head to toe. I want to rip off my left arm. I want to rip out my tissue expander that replaced my left breast. I had five lymph nodes removed under my left arm pit; it felt like I was being stabbed with a knife multiple times. The tissue expander is rubbing against my chest wall, tight and swollen; the feeling of someone scratching the surface of a chalk board non stop. BUT I DID IT! I ran the 2017 Baltimore Running Festival 5K @baltimorerunfest .

Nine years ago today, October 21, 2026, six weeks after my nipple sparing single mastectomy of my left breast with five lymph nodes removed. I DID NOT LET BREAST CANCER stop me from showing up!

Mind, Body, and Soul. Running helped me through this difficult time. I started running when I turned 40. Three years later, I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC) Stage IIB Hormone Positive/HER2 Negative Breast Cancer. I believe running saved me from having a much worse diagnosis. Swipe left to see my why. My sons were 10 and 5 years old when I was diagnosed. Not shown, my husband because he doesn’t like social media.

I share my story to Reclaim October @reclaim_october . I have been No Evidence of Disease (NED) for nine years. Women diagnosed with Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) have no cure but it is treatable. Cancer care is a life time. It doesn’t end until their last breath. That is why raising funds for MBC research is important. I invite you to be part of Reclaim October by donating to The Breasties Stage 4 Research Grant at Magee-Women’s Research Institute & Foundation located in Pittsburgh, PA.

Not bad for a girl goin’ nowhere.

Since my first gig, I knew Stage AE was a dream venue for me to play. Partially because it’s a hometown venue, and partially because I’ve seen 100 concerts there. Being on the other side of that stage is indescribable. 🥹

I’m so grateful for the support that I’ve received over the years, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t also get tons of people who said that this dream of mine was “impossible” or that I should pick the comfortable choice and “get a real job” because “it’s never going to work out”.

Saturday night put everything into perspective- everything I’ve worked for is finally coming together. All of the shows that I’ve played to just the bartender, every nasty comment from people I went to school with, and all the time I’ve spend feeling unsuccessful was worth it. And there’s no better feeling than seeing my partner in crime, Randy, right next to me. We did this together.

If we can do this, I have no doubt that my other goals are achievable too.

But most of all, I owe Melinda Collazzi and the WWR team the biggest thank you! Thank you for putting on such a wonderful event for an even greater cause, giving me a platform to share my love for music, and believing in me. Your hard work behind the scenes and in front of the crowd doesn’t go unnoticed. I’ve never met a more hardworking group of women who believe in equal opportunities, shared success, respect, and support. You make putting on one of Pittsburgh’s largest benefits look effortless! And did I mention we raised $650,000 for women’s health research?! If that’s not cool, I don’t know what is! 😆

Once again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who has supported me in any way- coming to shows, engaging online, sharing kind words, or even keeping me in your prayers.

Thank you God for the gifts you’ve given me, and the great things I know you have planned for my life. This is just the beginning. ✝️
