I keep chipping away at this film hobby, but man oh man do I need to learn some patience. I get that itchy feeling "oh there's only 20 shots left, I gotta use em so I can see what's here" and I realize, that's a direct result of this trash ass phone media that's ruined my dopamine receptors. The idea of anything great, especially artistic, is anticipation and intentionality. Oh well. These are why new hobbies can help put it all together.

Really enjoying my rip with the @bahamasmusic gang and stoked to wrap it all up in Winnipeg on the 25. Tickets still available for you and your friends and your friend's hot moms.

More is coming soon. Be patient, while I try to be as well.

Spring ➡️ Summer

Off the road just under a month and have been enjoying wholesome activities, rest and contemplation under the Tennessee and Alberta skylines, respectively.

Drag racing, Dio, fireflies, home cooking, Tae Bo, new barbed ink and river adventures, a very happy wandering 'dude' plant, Mom and Louise looking skeptical, fresh merch, and gardening projects.

FYI - nobody cooks a steak like me. Accepting challengers, but there are none who compare.

Very excited to be back out with the band! No photos of me practicing to a click but trust me, I've been screaming at the metronome. Tickets at marielbuckley.com/tour.

I'm really enjoying my new hobby. Shooting film is like the coolest thing in the world to me, I'm so in awe of folks who've made that their medium and I love the process and patience behind it.

This is a bit of a Q1 recap outside of tour. On the whole roll of film only about 10 photos were decent, so that's what you're seeing here.

Up next, me and the boneheadz (band name?) are headed off to Europe! Freshly minted with our award winning album, we're very excited to be woodshedding this week to bring our best to the buds overseas.

@thejunoawards recap: long-winded & gay version

Unbelievably honoured to have taken home some hardware from my first ever (!!!) JUNO nomination. I have worked very hard and love my job of singing sad songs SO much. The support from my peers and colleagues has been the biggest win from my weekend by far, and hearing the words "well-deserved" is truly the greatest gift I can ask for. That means I'm doing something right.

I am very proud of this album and to share this win with my manager Joanne, the band, @maggiegeis for wrangling us during the entire recording process and taking the beautiful album cover shots, @jesseannedoll & @dimestoremedicine for their additional engineering and singing on Anvil/Headroom, my brother @tbuckleymusic for mandolin and singing on Anvil, and of course the iconic producer buddy hero @jarradk_allday - everyone / anyone who worked on 'Strange Trip Ahead' deserves this nod just as much as I do. Great art is always a collaborative effort.

The most exciting part of this win is that now, finally, the band and I get to take these songs on tour. My favourite part of the job is working the material, getting better as musicians and connecting with folks all around the world. I hope you'll come out and celebrate with us. First up: an insane amount of shows in Europe!!

What a fun weekend celebrating Canadian music in Steel Town! Huge thanks to everyone who made this weekend so special: @jimcuddyofficial, @beingsampolley & @devincuddy for having me out to sing some Sheryl Crow, the wonderful crew at the Songwrites' Circle, @williamprince and @alyshiagrace for always having my back in an unbelievable way, my team at @birthdaycakerecords and of course, my manager and partner who did all the heavy lifting, ie: keeping my head from exploding.

The last line in the chorus of 'Vending Machines' is "I don't wanna worry my mother." When I wrote that song I was very seriously lost and considering why I had made so many choices to stay on the road while sacrificing so much. I'm very proud to say that my mom watched this win come in live and in person. What a beautiful full circle moment.

BABY’S FIRST JUNO AWARDS WEEKEND!!!!!! Can you even believe it?? So many cool things happened (like being in the same room as @jonimitchell 🥲) I am so proud to be Canadian, and especially to have represented the southern Alberta prairies this weekend out east.

My family friends back home hosted a legendary redneck watch party, in their own words, complete with a buck 🦌 statuette from the church basement thrift store… wished I could clone myself to be in both places so bad lol! More pics to come!

PS @yeehawrevival guess what, we made best dressed in @thetorontostar 🥵❤️‍🔥

I left home on January 22nd in a whirlwind of fervent energy and optimism, back again March 5th. 28 shows across Canada with @mattandersenmusic - one of my favourite tours of all time.

Despite my best efforts to stay present and grounded, all of the best memories have already blurred together. Between @chrisfnkirby singing Randy Newman backstage in Ottawa, @gauthier_guitar catching me running offstage while weeping in Toronto, @christinebougie melting minds every night, Matt quietly checking on me with my new nickname [Superstar], @cunjak being the best tour guide for our east coast stopovers or @joshuavt handing out hugs after sound check - I find myself overcome with warmth and the deepest gratitude. This band was a privilege to open up for. Every single person in our unit was exceptional: hard working, passionate and generous.

Matt made a point to welcome me as one of the gang which is uncommonly kind. I rode the tour bus with everyone else. His technicians made my show a point of pride. Amazing FOH sound, monitors, dazzling lights and my merch included with his seller. It couldn't have been easier for me to show up and give 110%, and I am so thankful to Steve, Duane, Ashley and Craig for that. @mr1fresnel, @dooland, @ashleyforsterlighting, @deleavey ♥️

I started this year like I always do - hoping for great shows and a little bit of luck. I got the call about my first JUNO nomination one week into this run, somewhere outside Tatamagouche in a rental truck with my dad. I played my opening set tonMassey Hall with a standing ovation two weeks after. I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't get much better than that.

Thanks to @factorcanada for topping up the tank on this one, it was much appreciated!
