In this Instagram takeover of the Redeye account, I'm also sharing these photographs from body of work that depicts change makers in or connected to Sheffield where I live.

Follow me over on @karinalaxphoto and see more from this body of work: www.karinalax.com/thesewallsmustfall

First up is Magid Magid, former Green party MEP and lord mayor of Sheffield (2019). It's one of my favourite portraits.

Salma Haidrani
Salma, an award winning author and journalist who writes about many aspects of life and culture for magazines and books, including a key chapter in Its Not About the Burqa.

I photographed Reach Up Youth on commission last year, meeting this amazing group of young people or a great fun shoot in Burngreave, Sheffield.

We warmly welcome Magid Magid to #QBerlin22! He is not only the founder and director of the Union of Justice, a European climate justice organization, but also a compassionate disrupter who openly and critically questions the current conditions of #TheNewUnknown.

If we look at the current political conditions of our present, we are once again confronted with the question of how we can succeed in shaping our metropolises as places of refuge with fair housing and employment opportunities and prospects. And even more: How can metropolises unite to solve the world's challenges in the face of wars, inflation and recession?

Magid Magid is a Somali-British Author and Director of Union of Justice and Former Member of European Parliament and Lord Mayor of Sheffield. He came to the UK at the age of 5 and is now Chairman of the refugee charity City of Sanctuary Sheffield. All the more we wonder what his views and solutions are regarding world political events. And how do we succeed in making people in exile feel at home and reconciling inequalities?

Will we see you in front of the stage on September 15 & 16 to watch his Speech live?

🏖📗👨‍👩‍👦 It’s been an eventful couple of months! At the end of May we completed a cross county move - from Wiltshire to Devon to be closer to family in Cornwall! This is one of the reasons why I’ve only posted a little from @rock_of_floosters - packing, moving, unpacking, moving Lounes’ school, starting work in new places, etc! Things have decompressed a bit more now, we’ve spent the last 2 afternoons at the new local beach, I’ve recently unpacked my ‘currently reading’ stash and am continuing with this from @magicmagid

🤷🏻‍♀️😮‍💨As much as I’m glad karma has begun to kick the Tories back in the butt in some form there’s so much that needs to be changed. This book is helping me to feel optimistic ♥️✌️✊

Flicking through some old images this morning and came across this lovely lot. I used to host @cm_sheffield for 3 and half years when I was first back in the UK. It was mega. A lot of work but mega. And met lots of mega people and heard many wonderful stories. Together with the morning team we made a bumper book and website to celebrate. A snapshot here of a few of the features. Thank you everyone. What a lovely lovely thing to be reminded of. 💚☕️☕️☕️☕️🍂🍁
