Calling all fantasy readers ⚔️📚

We’re getting together for one last bookish night out before the year is over.

Join us at @therosereadbookshop & @postino.osteria on 29 December for Bound to Dine with @maithreewrites - an evening of good food, drinks and the kind of conversations that only happen when you put a table full of fantasy readers together.

Maithree will be joined by fellow author @jacquiepham for an in-conversation about writing, world-building, characters, books and all things fantasy.

And because this is Bound to Dine, the conversation doesn’t end when the author talk does. We’ll settle in around the table, eat, drink, talk books and spend the evening with people who understand why fictional worlds require this much discussion.

Siento que este libro no esté traducido. Ni siquiera el primero, The Prince Without Sorryw ha llegado aún y éste, The Witch Without Memory es una segunda parte.
Ambientado en un mundo de fantasía con inspiración hindú, tenemos un punto de vista dual Ashoka un príncipe caído en desgracia y Shakti una mayakari, una bruja enfadada con el mundo que le ha tocado vivir.
Como viene siendo habitual, en este mundo las brujas dan tanto miedo que las queman a pesar de ser pacíficas en su mayoría y muy conectadas a la naturaleza y los espíritus que viven en ella. Pero Shakti está tan enfadada con esta injusticia y con la quema de su pueblo, que se venga del Emperador con una maldición que le viene de vuelta. En su mente viven ahora todos los anteriores emperadores y reyes de su tierra.
Me encanta que los protagonistas no sean la pareja de enamorados típica, que Ashoka esté enamorado de su guardia personal, Rahil y que Shakti tenga suficiente con su vida como para pensar en amoríos.

This book was devastating! It has a few harsh moments that will live rent free in my mind.
I love that the two main characters (Ashoka - a fallen prince and Shakti - a mayakari, a witch) are not love entangled among themselves. Ashoka is in love with someone else we know from the first book and here it plays a major role and it will really devaste you if you dare to read.
Shakti is not in love, she's an angered and raging witch that gets part of her time under Aarya's (Ashoka's sister) hand and gosh she is tough and cruel. But things get even worse from there.
@maithreewrites has written a devastating second book that left me craving for the next one. Thank you!
This pretty edition is @illumicrate 's but the regular hardback is also very pretty.
Can you think of other strong women in literature that don't need the love of a man❓

The Prince Without Sorrow was an excellent book. I liked the story and thought the premise was good. I liked the cover. I loved the shade of blue used and artwork - especially of the tiger. It was eye-catching. The writing was good and I thought the story flowed well. A dual point of view format is used and the narrators are Prince Ashoka and Shakti. I liked the basis of mythology and folk tales. I like that the book tackles the idea of genocide against the Mayakari. It’s not an easy topic to work with and I think that Maithree does a really good job dealing with this in a sensitive manner. The book setting is good and the world-building is excellent. I enjoyed the characters very much. Prince Ashoka was interesting due to how much he differed from his family. Shakti was fierce and loyal to her family and people. I enjoyed how both characters’ journeys evolved and how they came together. I enjoyed the supporting characters and because every good book needs good villains I enjoyed how these types were written as well. I definitely recommend the book and I am looking forward to reading the next one!
