finally posting my senior choreographic work 🖤🤍

one of the strangest, most challenging, and most rewarding creative journeys i’ve ever experienced.
forever grateful for every rehearsal, every risk, and every person who helped bring this world to life.

Special thanks to my amazing mentor @jessinamst 💗!!!!!

“Yes… I Give In” is a dance piece that explores how speech and movement connect and complement each other, along with other art forms like painting, singing, tumbling, playing instruments, and film. The piece moves through different relatable ideas that feel like fragments of life; a strange dream that stays with you, thoughts about time and death, the meaning behind words, and the question of fate versus choice. At its core, this piece embraces the idea of learning to be curious, accepting, and appreciative of things as they are, finding presence and freedom in the unknown. And in the very end, after all the thinking, feeling, and overthinking… the most consistent (slightly unverified) solution turns out to be dance, and a bit of creativity.

“the Kore of our womanhood: Persephone’s Story” 🥀

i can’t believe our rehearsal process has come to an end. i am so grateful to have been granted this opportunity and work with this amazing group. i have been developing this specific piece for just over a year, been applying since 2024, and dreamt of choreographing for a Lossein Playhouse Production since my first month at ECU. here is a little accumulation of my favorite videos from choreography labs, my applications, and rehearsals to give insight on this process. happy night one of tech week!!! 🖤

thank you to my mentor for this project @jessinamst for all your guidance and my choreographic teacher @johndadixon for all your wisdom🤍

come out and support Once Upon a Dance!
