MDM Cohort 19 Orientation 👋✨ We kicked off the term with a full day of connection, creativity, and hands-on learning. From an icebreaker led by Professor Diana Varma that got everyone talking, to an Unreal Engine intro workshop with MDM alumna and adjunct professor Nansy Khanano, it was all about jumping in together. The day also included a 3D scanning workshop with MDM alumnus and seasonal professor James Rowan, an alumni panel sharing real experiences and pathways through the program, and a visit to the Library’s Collaboratory & Immersive Room. We wrapped things up at the DTL, where students brought it full circle by 3D printing their own scans! Welcome to the MDM community, Cohort 19 - we’re excited to see what you build together. #MDM #TheCreativeSchool #Cohort19 #Orientation #MDMCommunity

@talkpaperscissors Episode 252: Creative Meets Technical with James Rowan 🤖 🔑 ✨ Could you collaborate to make an award-winning professional short film with a team from start to finish in just 48 hours? Our guest today has done just that! @makingthemaster is a technologist, educator, and researcher working at the intersection of film, television, and emerging technology. You’ll hear James talk about the ways in which both creativity drives technology and technology drives creativity. He provides advice about how to develop both creative thinking skills, paired with the technical skills necessary to make a vision come to life, and what’s needed to bridge the gap between these two states of being. We chat about the inventible failures that will occur in figuring things out as you go, and that failure is simply data. We talk about collaboration and the power of the hive mind; diverse individuals with different areas of expertise coming together to push innovation through experimentation. Magic ensues. Unicorns appear! Be sure to check out the show notes at www.talkpaperscissors.info to find the link to James and team’s award-winning 48 hour film; a 7-minute short, entitled ‘The Key to Paradise’. #TalkPaperScissors #Technology #VFX #48hourfilmproject #unrealengine @digitalmediatmu @sheridan_college
