ONE YEAR OF NEXT STRIDE WELLNESS! 🥳✨🐴

I can’t believe it’s already been a year since I officially started Next Stride Wellness!

This past year has brought so many new experiences, opportunities to learn, and some pretty amazing animals and people into my life.

To everyone who has trusted me with their animals, booked a session, recommended me to a friend, shared a post, or supported me in any way, THANK YOU! It truly means more to me than you know.

Here’s to another year of wellness, recovery, performance, and doing what I love! 🤍

For the love of the horse, and every animal along the way. 🐴🐾

Different roles, same goal 🤍

Between running @NextStrideWellness, working as an equine veterinary assistant, and being back in the classroom, I’m grateful for every opportunity to keep learning and growing for the horses in my care 🐴🩺📚

Next Stride Wellness provides complementary wellness services and does not provide veterinary services or replace veterinary care.

WELCOME TO BRIDGE ROAD FARM 🤎

Figured it was time for a proper introduction around here.

I’m Makaylin, but most people call me Mak. Bridge Road Farm is my happy place, my personal farm, home to my horses, dogs, cats, chickens, and approximately 100 projects at any given time. I grew up riding and competing in the jumpers and later riding and coaching collegiate equestrian.

I’m incredibly lucky to still have both of my childhood ponies here with me, and now I get to navigate a completely different stage of horse ownership as I focus on keeping them comfortable, happy, and thriving in their senior years. Then there’s Rolo, who came home with me from the University of Lynchburg and has turned out to be a bigger blessing than I ever could have imagined.

After spending the last few years heavily focused on school and coaching, I’m finding my way back to riding more consistently again with him. This time around, I’m having a lot of fun stepping outside of what I know, taking dressage lessons, mixing my traditional English roots with the western style I love, and letting go of the idea that I need to fit into one discipline or aesthetic.

My love for animals extends far beyond riding. I work as an equine veterinary assistant and run my own equine and pet wellness business, @NextStrideWellness, as a certified PEMF and Red Light Practitioner. I’m passionate about alternative wellness therapies and how they can complement traditional care. I’m always learning more about nutrition, natural products, herbs, essential oils, and different ways to support the animals in my care.

And that’s really what I want BRF to be. A place to share life with all of these animals, my return to the saddle, caring for horses through every stage of life, things I’m learning, products I genuinely use and love, farm projects, and whatever else we get ourselves into around here.

Glad you’re here 🤎

There’s nothing quite like galloping through the timers after a clear round. 🥹

Looking back at these memories makes me so grateful for every horse I have been fortune enough to sit on, especially the one in a million, Wanant. I was a junior in some of these clips, so be nice. 😅

What a day! Rolo took on the Boyd Martin show jumping clinic with ease. Hearing Boyd describe him as “a high-octane machine” and “a horse of a lifetime” is something I’ll never forget.

I’m incredibly lucky to have a partner who gives his all every single ride. Grateful for opportunities like today and even more grateful for this special horse. ❤️

Over the weekend I took Rolo to a local schooling show where we did our first ever dressage tests. I am repeatedly amazed by this horse and his versatility, so grateful for a partner who is game for teaching me new things. He even got some pretty good scores too, now it is time to break out my shoulders back again 😅 I couldn’t have done this without the support and encouragement from my friend @mel_says_howdy and of course my boyfriend @tyler_.ballard 🤍 Excited to do it again sometime!

Feeling extra grateful for this work, the horses, and MagnaWave 🤍

The difference this technology has made in my life and in the horses I work with is hard to put into words.

There’s a lot that goes into keeping these horses going, and I’m really grateful to be part of that process.
