One of the best parts of DanceLive is welcoming a lineup of world-class dancers into the studio for our Festival Artist Studio Classes, which are open-level and suited for dancers of all skill levels, and give you an opportunity to work with and learn from the phenomenal artists you'll see performing on the DanceLive stages all weekend long. Malcolm Sutherland Festival Artist Class Friday the 16th @ 10:30-12:00 The class focuses on finding the initiation point of movements to better understand body coordination. Through improvisational tasks combined with set exercises, we will build awareness of body and space, culminating in heightened movement sensitivity. The class style blends ideas drawn from Malcolm's 15 years of professional experience in the industry. Çıplak Ayaklar Kumpanyası Festival Artist Class Saturday the 17th @ 10:30 - 12:00 This improvisation class will be led by Mihran Tomasyan and Leyla Postalcıoğlu, accompanied by live music from Berke Özcan. They will share their personal interests in improvisation and invite participants, through structured improvisation, into a playful exploration of movement, rhythm, space, and the connections between sound and movement. In the final part of the class, they will also share a movement score from The Things We Carry, giving participants an opportunity to experience and explore material from their sharing at the opening night of DanceLive White & Givan Festival Artist Class Sunday the 18th @ 10:30 - 12:00 A contemporary company class, focusing on skeletal alignment, articulate placement, and core stability. Participants will move with fluidity, precision, power, and strength, developing a grounded understanding of the body’s physicality in performance. Sharon Took-Zozaya Festival Artist Workshop Monday the 19th @ 14:15-15:15 in Aberdeen Art Gallery Sharon leads this creative dance and physical theatre workshop, with themes from her latest project, Everything That’s Still Is Preparing to Move. Class spaces are limited, so you will want to be sure to book ahead so you don't miss your chance to dance with these world-class artists. You can book through our website or on the Citymoves App!

DanceLive 2026 brings Solitude without Loneliness to The Anatomy Rooms on Thursday, 15th October, to launch our 20th Festival. Malcolm Sutherland's latest work brings an evocative performance in which bodies and characters collapse, separate, and reform in a constant search for meaning, attachment, and understanding. Voices extend from these bodies as they navigate busy streets, seeking comfort in their unique landscapes. This exhausting yet familiar quest for connection unfolds through moments of humour, intimacy, and longing. From karaoke bars to restaurants, this contemporary dance work combines text, movement and situational absurdity. Solitude without Loneliness invites empathy through the cyclical endurance of the performers, reminding us of the universal desire for union with one another and with ourselves, and of the fragile ways we continually reach towards others. This performance will be followed by a special sharing from Istanbul's Çıplak Ayaklar Kumpanyası and Portuguese choreographer Francisco Camacho/EIRA, supported by Creative Scotland's Expanded Festivals Fund Will We See You there? Here are the details👇 Venue: The Anatomy Rooms Time: 18:30-19:30 Age Restriction: 12+ Tickets at the link in our bio This production was created with support from: Creative Scotland , Dance Base, The Work Room , Scottish Dance Theatre, Macrobert Arts Centre , Dumfries & Galloway Dance , The Space, Monument Dance Centre, Curious Seed , & Citymoves Citymoves and DanceLive Festival are supported by Aberdeen City Council's Cultural Investment Programme and Creative Scotland.

✨„I was born: the matter I am made of does not belong to the present. I carry an ancient past and am destined for an unimaginable future. I am a heterogeneous, irreconcilable time, belonging to no single era, no single moment.“ ~Emanuele Coccia Throughout the last week, we had the priviledge to continue our creation of Florescence in Decay at CAPE, Ettelbrück (@cape_ettelbruck ) moving steadily towards our premiere on 30 April. Our creation is a work inspired by the book Metamorphoses by Emanuele Coccia: ✨What if the body is not “now”, but a crossing of times? What if we are made of sediments, echoes, futures not yet lived? ✨ Florescence in Decay unfolds where past and future meet in the present body - a space where time is layered, beyond human, alive and where every being is a being-with. 🌟Join us for the premiere! 🌟 📍 CAPE Ettelbrück 📅 30 April 2026 🔥 Video Credits: Dance Coralie Calfond, Marla King, Gonzalo Alonso, Malcolm Sutherland, Lou Landré Creative Assistance Marla King Video Bohumil Kostohryz Music Anna Meredith Produced by Elisabeth Schilling & Company Supported by @cape_ettelbruck & @eschertheater, @kulturministere.lu @trois.cl Florescence in Decay was originally commissioned by @lestheatresvdl in Season 2022/23 as a 30minute version.

✨Meet our beautiful dancers of Florescence in Decay.✨ At the heart of this creation are five unique voices. We asked them: 🪸 What is this piece for you? What does transformation mean to you? 🪸 Five dancers. Five inner landscapes. Their reflections remind us why we create - to evolve, to connect, to become, together. ✨ Today, meet our dear Malcolm Sutherland ✨ Catch the premiere of Florescence in Decay on 30 April at CAPE Ettelbrück - a sensorial journey on transformation, interconnectedness, and the poetry of change.

✨It’s International Dance Day today! ✨ Dance is ephemeral - it exists only for a moment, and yet it transforms everything it touches. Through bones, flesh, skin, it moves into space and resonates within us - opening worlds beyond the material. At its core, dance is connection. Between bodies and space, between people, disciplines, and worlds. At Elisabeth Schilling & Company, we create spaces where art forms meet and move with each other - where dance, music, design and visual art intertwine, and where people are invited not only to watch, but to feel, reflect, and connect. On this International Dance Day, we celebrate this ever-changing, living art form - and the connections it makes possible. And tomorrow, we step into it - with the premiere of Florescence in Decay – Reimagined. 30th April 8pm @cape_ettelbruck Dance Marla King, Gonzalo Alonso, Malcolm Sutherland, Lou Landré, Rowan Schratzberger Creative Assistance Marla King Dramaturgy Eva Martinez Music Anna Meredith Video Bohumil Kostohryz Producer Jon Roberts Produced by Elisabeth Schilling & Company Supported by @cape_ettelbruck & @eschertheater , @kulturministere.lu , @kulturministere.lu Florescence in Decay was originally commissioned by @lestheatresvdl in Season 2022/23 as a 30minute version.

🫶🏾🌱This piece asked a lot from us. 🌱🫶🏾 There were many unexpected challenges along the way, moments of uncertainty, moments where we had to find new ways forward. And what I witnessed in this team… I will not forget. People who stayed. Who listened. Who supported each other with so much care. Artists who kept giving - again and again - with openness, trust, and generosity. Somehow, through all of this, something very strong and very tender grew between us. A real company feeling. A deep sense of togetherness that you cannot plan, only experience. I feel incredibly proud, deeply happy, and honestly very moved. And so grateful to each and every one of you 🌿 Dance Marla King, Gonzalo Alonso, Malcolm Sutherland, Lou Landré, Rowan Schratzberger Creative Assistance Marla King Dramaturgy Eva Martinez Costumes Agnes Hamvas Set Design Lynn Scheidweiler & Ariane Koziolek Costumes Agnes Hamvas Set Design Lynn Scheidweiler & Ariane Koziolek Music Anna Meredith Photography Bohumil Kostohryz Producer Jon Roberts Produced by Elisabeth Schilling & Company Supported by @cape_ettelbruck & @eschertheater, Ministère de la Culture, TROIS CL / Maison pour la Danse Florescence in Decay was originally commissioned by @lestheatresvdl in Season 2022/23 as a 30minute version.
