POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The next time you get to the end of the day and feel like you haven’t done or achieved anything- remember this.

You are doing so much. You are trying your best and you are an amazing mum ✨❤️

This is hard.

There is so much more to say around this- too much for one reel.

Like the way that we shift and move between contrasting emotional states alongside them so frequently and often without warning or time to process is exhausting in itself.

The way our children help us to regulate as-well as us helping them (those heartfelt cuddles can melt away the stress and warm our hearts), the child developmental piece which is important to understand and the fact that maybe we are learning this for the first time too.

That we won’t always ‘get it right’ but we are doing our best. And that sometimes we just don’t have enough capacity and we can’t give what we haven’t got.

Keep showing up for yourself mamas. Keep giving yourself the chance to offload the tension and stress.

A little goes a long way.

Sending love.

Kel 🙏

Gladys Kangau @motherhood_unscripted
connects with mothers in her community in Kenya, sharing her own matrescence journey and creating space for others to be heard. She is such a force for change and her voice is an invaluable part of our film. Gladys is a Global Matrescence Ambassador with @mamarisingmovement @amytaylorkabbaz and as part of our journey to Kenya it was so moving to see Amy and Gladys meet in person for the first time. So many tears. Thank you Gladys for your advocacy for women in your community.

‘𝘞𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘥, 𝘸𝘦 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵.’

I’ve heard this for the first time in my @mamarisingmovement Matrescence course and it really stopped me in my track…. Amy was talking about me! I was the one that strived for perfectionism because I, somehow, thought it all depended on me holding it all inside.

So much perfectionism is just anger that was never allowed anywhere.

We learn young to swallow our feeling sand stay agreeable. But all these feeling don’t just vanish, they settles into resentment. Reclaiming those emotions - the anger, the tears, the honest no - is part of matrescence. Steadiness isn’t silence. It’s speaking your feelings and staying true to yourself anyway.

What emotion are you still afraid to own out loud?

Look what happens when you ask a room full of mothers who they’re becoming.

This was my Becoming Wall at the @parentingwellbeingshow on Saturday.

By the end of the day it was covered in words of women who had stopped for a moment to think about the impact motherhood has had on them.

“Through motherhood, I’m becoming a woman who…”

I had so many incredible conversations throughout the day. Women told me about their careers, their children, the things that have changed, the things they’re wrestling with, the things they’ve absolutely nailed (I loved this bit!) and the women they can feel themselves becoming.

There were so many common threads, like wanting balance, learning to trust themselves, setting boundaries, understanding their worth, being more patient with themselves and those around them, and working out what they want now and how that could look.

Yet, every woman’s story was completely her own.

I was asked at the end of the day what my biggest take away was.

And I said:

Every mother has a story to tell. She just needs the space to share it.

The whole day had a warm, uplifting energy. I loved hearing the brilliant speakers including @dolly_jones , @birthofamother_ , @alexsheppard19 , @tamu.thomas and @elevated.self. I even discovered that a talk about wills and life insurance could be surprisingly engaging thanks to @futurelifewills

And one of the loveliest parts was the people I met. I feel as though I’ve made true friends in @aligned_parenting and @theorganisedmums. Absolute powerhouses who are showing how comfortably motherhood can sit alongside ambition, and how much it can add to it.

But I keep coming back to this wall.

It’s sitting in my office now, and I think it captures so much of what Path to Pink is about.

Giving mothers space to understand what has changed, honour who they are now, and explore what they want this to mean for what’s next.

If that’s a conversation you feel ready to have, I’d love to chat.

This is an opportunity to have your voice heard!!

The Australian Senate has established a new Select Committee on Women’s Health, chaired by South Australian @senatormariellesmith @au.senate creating an important opportunity to examine the experiences of women within our healthcare system.

For us, this conversation must include what happens AFTER BIRTH. Matrescence. Postpartum care. Maternal mental health. The enormous physical, neurological and emotional transition into m/otherhood. The places where mothers feel supported, and the places where our systems are still falling short. And importantly, the committee wants to hear from people with lived experience.

If you have a story, experience or perspective you would like decision makers to hear, you can make a submission to the inquiry. We’ve put together this carousel to make the process a little easier, with simple steps for sharing your experience. Your story matters. Your experience matters. And collectively, these stories can help show where change is needed.

Please tag mothers, women and parents in your life who may want their voices included. And head to the link in our bio to submit. #postpartummentalhealth #senateinquiry #matrescence #senatormariellesmith #motherhood

Matrescência: A Nova Maternidade.

❤️ "The Inner Split" describes the Woman she was and the Woman she is becoming.

The inner split is a huge aspect of her Matrescence...
Sit with this, feel the shift...
It's huge!
It's emotional
It's profound
It's important.
Show yourself kindness.

💛 Giving ourselves full permission to acknowledge that our shift through Matrescence effects us deeply and now is the time we start conversations around this, together.

💙 You will be okay, we all go through this in different ways and it's called our Matredcence.

💜 Come sit with Shagun, Nat and I at the One Fine Baby Expo.
Sit, stay a while as we explore together what this inner split means for you.
