WAKD WEEKEND 2026🏀

Both gyms got put to work this camp. From drills to scrimmages, the energy never dropped and everybody left tired for all the right reasons. That’s what a successful camp looks like.

Huge shout out to @premierfitness for bringing the strength and agility training that pushed our campers to another level.

And to @korleonesendlessgrub for keeping everybody fueled with amazing food all camp long, campers and staff included. We appreciate you.

Special thanks to the sponsors and all our staff for making this whole weekend possible!!

Jumping on this 2016 throwback trend because 2016 was truly unforgettable!

It was the year that closed one chapter and opened a whole new one. We said farewell to our D.C. life and kicked off our new beginning in Texas. We (truly a team effort) planned (and executed) a bridal shower in Natchitoches, bachelorette party in Montego Bay, our wedding in Dallas, a cross country move from DC to Austin, Travis started his MBA program, and we honeymooned during Christmas break in Mauritius and South Africa! Whew chile!

It was a wild ride of endings, new beginnings, and a whole lot of beautiful memories that shaped the decade that followed. Cheers to nearly 10 years since that unforgettable year!

This year almost slipped by without a birthday celebration for my baby (big) boy. Usually for his birthday we’ve been traveling or I’ve been too deep in a grief wave to muster up the energy to throw a party. With the craziness of our life’s journey this year, I thought maybe we’ll just try again next year. But all Ezzie ever asked for was a “family party.” No big show, no gifts…just some of the people he loves most.

And that’s exactly what he got. His favorite part? Not the decorations, not the gifts… it was “My family, and my gluten free cake”.

Hosting it on the anniversary of my Dad’s passing brought unexpected healing. My family needed that time together. On our way back home, Travis expressed how amazing I was for managing to throw together a last minute party in the midst of the chaos that is our life right now.

I didn’t realize how much it would mean until I sat back, days later, and felt the blessing of it all.

“In the middle of life’s storms, celebrating love and joy is how we remember what truly matters.”

2024 was a year of resilience and rebuilding.

I was diagnosed with an auto immune condition at the beginning of the year and spent most of it learning how to manage it and the aftermath of chronic stress. I’ll be sharing my story next year so stay tuned.

Ezzie also has been dealing with severe eczema that has been quite complicated to manage. I’ll also be sharing a little more on this next year.

As challenging as 2023 was after losing my sister, this one was challenged me on a whole new level.

As I step into 2025, I carry these lessons with me: Rest is necessary. Boundaries are healthy. Gratitude changes everything. And joy can still exist, even in the midst of a storm.

Happy New Years Eve everyone!!!

The Natchitoches Christmas festival has been such a core memory of my childhood and adulthood!

It’s the first Saturday of December every year and always falls around my birthday. It was something I always looked forward too since we were kids…until my Dad passed.

This was the first year I’ve been back since 2019 and it brought back so many memories. The last time I was here, my Dad and Soster were still alive. And whew….They were definitely missed.

The weekend was chilly and a little gloomy but the joy in our hearts as we laughed, danced, ate and celebrated shined so bright. I could feel their presence all around me. As I looked at my son with the same excitement in his eyes as we watched the parade I knew that was the same look my sister and Dad saw in our eyes as we enjoyed the festival all throughout our lives. I knew in that moment, this is right where I was supposed to be.

“When we lose someone we love, we become keepers of a flame—a flame lit by memories and kept alive by love.”

This weekend was full of love, happiness and joy.

I had the opportunity to celebrate my beautiful niece and Goddaughter on homecoming court as she gracefully strides through her Senior year. I am so proud of her and I know my Sister Petula would be estatic as she graduates from her high school Alma mater this year!

So blessed to be able to reunite with family and spend some quality time with my loves! ❤️

“When we lose someone we love, we become keepers of a flame—a flame lit by memories and kept alive by love.”

We missed my Dad and Sister so much this past weekend but I know they were so proud of us and so excited for us to all be together making new memories!

This era of grief has taught me to let go of the need to be picture perfect and really just slow down, and enjoy the moments.

First time back to Lousiana since my sister passed 7 months ago.

The grief was heavy but being back in her home (my home away from home) brought me so much peace.

We celebrated my nephews’ graduations and had a Memorial Day cookout that was so reminiscent of the times when my Dad and Sister were alive.

Their physical presence was missed but we felt them all around us and will continue to keep the flame alive through the memories we continue to create over the years!

To my grieving friends, keep making memories through the sadness. Love on your family and friends that are still here. Talk about your deceased loved ones as often as you’d like to. Keep the flame alive!
