Meet Gabriel & his two good boys. As my boys and I crossed from Baja Sur into Baja Norte in Guerrero Negro ( a Salt mining Town) we stopped to get more road supplies. Water, gas, snacks and turkey for the boys. I kept a few slices for Mateo and Papita, but these boys are very well fed, even on a long road adventure through Baja. As we had done on the way down, we gave some snacks to as many dogs as we could when we stopped in different cities, gas stations and the really smart boys who hang around restaurants and street carts. The truth is that there are many unhoused street dogs in Mexico, but the Mexican people love them and feed them as they can. They might not have a permanent home, yet they are still loved and never euthanized for simply “running out of space” It is sad to see dogs on the streets, yet it is even sadder to see humans not have enough or work so much just to have nothing to show and still be hungry. When I asked Gabriel if these were his dogs and if so, may I feed them, he said “Si, muchas gracias…” and as I was giving them some cold cuts, the look on Gabriel’s eyes were the same as his boys, so I offered him some cuts as well. He was gracious and wished us a safe and fun trip back. Empathy and love is what attracts me to the road. We love meeting and breaking bread with new folks. Core memories were made. Stay tuned for some more photos and stories from our Lost & Found Baja Adventures with the Papitas 🍟 Papita, Mateo aka “Chancho” and me, their driver. #lostandfoundpets #lostandfoundbrews #frenchiesinmexico #bajacalifornia #ontheroadagain

Johnny Cash Mural Midtown Sacramento 📍 Making street Art come alive is my latest obsession. Cities like Sacramento, San Francisco, New York, LA, New Orleans, Chicago are full of street art that all tell a story if you pay attention. True art comes from pain and a willing to share your point of view through one’s art. Whether it’s food, writing, murals, film, photography, music or your voice. Stand Up. All Forms of expression is a form of standing up, having a moment of vulnerability, showing your pain and experiences so that others can see beauty, reminding them that they are not alone. Support your local artists. Artist: @obeygiant Shepard Fairey, an internationally renowned street artist, graphic designer, and activist, famously known for the “Hope” poster he created for Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign. Inspiration: The mural is based on a 1968 photograph of Johnny Cash taken by photographer Jim Marshall at Folsom Prison. Context: The mural was created in honor of the 50th anniversary of Cash’s landmark “At Folsom Prison” album. Location: The mural is painted on the eastern-facing wall of the Residence Inn hotel in Midtown, best viewed from the intersection of L and 16th #midtownsac #midtownartwalk #exploremidtown #sacramentoartist #visualstreet #visualstreetfilms #visualstreetexplorers #cityart #obeygiant #artlives #johnnycashquotes
