There is nothing quite like playing on a piece of history. A friend recently got to play games on this rare, stunning 1923 Babcock Mahjong set 🀄️✨ Swipe through the slides for a closer look at the unbelievable craftsmanship and original 1920s rules! Which vintage detail is your favorite? Let me know in the comments! 👇 #mahjonghistory #nomadmahj #mahj Look closely at the carved lid. It says 雀麻 (Máqiào), which translates to "Sparrow" - the original Chinese name for the game before it changed for Western audiences 🦜🐦‍⬛ To market the game in the US, Joseph Babcock, the American oil engineer who brought it over from China, published this booklet in 1920. It became famous as the "Little Red Book" 📕 The 1920s craze was an absolute wildfire. Look at that print history! It took 10 massive reprints in just 34 months to keep up with overnight American demand 📈 The craftsmanship of these sets is unbelievable. Look at the tiny, hand-carved bamboo dice case made just to house the miniature bone dice! 🎲✨ Forget paper scorecards or chips! In the 1920s, players tracked their scores and betting using these hand-carved, dot-stamped bone counting sticks 💰 Because the game was entirely brand new to Westerners, Babcock had to use his book to explicitly teach them what "Tiao" (Bamboos) and "Tung" (Dots) meant! 🎋🎋 Look at this craftsmanship ✨ This beautiful bone-and-bamboo set holds the secrets of how Mahjong conquered the West! 🀄️ Long before the National Mah Jongg League codified the modern American card in 1937, players used Babcock's point-based math. Notice the early trademarked hyphenated spelling: "Mah-Jongg." 📝 This set is an authentic "Allman Product" variant, perfectly preserved for over a century. Would you play a round with a 103-year-old historic game? Let me know below! 👇🀄️ Mahjong Tray

2026-Week 27 What a week— Nature, NYC, Fam and CDMX. 🐥 Found this little duckling swimming on his own in the Hudson Monday morning. He was fighting the good fight in the currents 🌲 Washington Square Park has these amazing moments. I was drawn to this view by mist rising between the trees and while the camera didn’t quite capture it, the lushness and the view 🤌 🐹 What Monday morning bus ride would be complete without a girl taking 2 guinea pigs for a little ride? 💙🧡 Loving the residual clues from our amazing June and the Knicks epic run 🚗📋 Baby girl took her first road test in the BK. Didn’t go her way but that’s the nature of first road tests—especially in Red Hook. ⛰️👟 Salomon opened an amazing new flagship in Flatiron today. It was Coach Mark’s baby and Coach Chris was there playing—so stopped by to support and check it out. I think I see a pair of Salomon’s in my future. 🎬 City was filled with press and camera crews this week. Not sure what this team hoped to get in front of Brandy Melville but go nuts team. 💪🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Kiera and Henry came to visit with us at BodyBuilding class. Bobby Rowe and Steve showing up as tip-top BB fam guncles, 😘 🗝️ Sometimes, you get locked out. Then you call Mandy and Jason and we help you reset and figure it out. 🦃🖼️ Amazing mural, “The Spring” by Kiki Smith in the Lower Concourse of Grand Central Terminal. Also, take public transportation to the airport, it’s SO much easier. 🍪🛫 Biscoff cookies. Only ever when I am flying. Small pleasures but a harbinger of a great trip in 🇲🇽 👸🏽 Frida Kahlo’s house in Coyoacán was inspiring her studios, living spaces and the gardens. A tremendous 3-D biography of the woman and the artist she was. 🎺 Mariachi’s in Xochimilco on barges were unlike anything I have ever done. Next level experience in CDMX. So grateful to Ari and Bo for making this entire weekend happen. 🏟️ Copa Mondial at the Azteca in CDMX. 80,840 people making a GIGANTIC stadium shake and sway (literally, not hyperbole). I have never been to a World Cup match but if this is how they go..who knows. Unlike anything I have ever done.

2026-Week 25 🌐🏆 World cup really got underway this week and you could see signs of activity throughout the city. 🌇🌞 The weather vibes were immaculate all week, even inspiring your author to take goofy photos with his watch and the NY Life clock. 🖼️ Public art moment taking in this amazing tribute to the garment workers, most of whom were jewish immigrants, who made NYC, and that area of midtown, the center of the fashion universe for a while. 💪🦁 Gym fam always a highlight. Grateful to spend time with them every week. 🏀 @nyknicks were fueling the vibes all week and even inspired tat3. Sure the actual ink is the Knicks but this is a great reminder of how good the city feels these days. 🐼 @mirandahackett_ got home from her epic trip and even the Brooklyn Bridge got her jewels on to welcome her home. 🌹 Gorgeous flowers from @bobbyolejarczyk . An expression of gratitude for an act that should come naturally to all of us: inclusion. 🔴🟢 Quick jaunt up to visit with @joyceketay for her annual bocce party. Even Columbia County was showing off this week. 🏃‍♂️🎥 Fathers’ Day ended the week with a 5k with the girls and going to see Disclosure Day. Ideal was to spend the day.

2026 Week-24 Overwhelmed with love for our city this week. I have lived in NYC for my entire life and have never felt the city so alive. Maybe it’s the start of summer or maybe the NY Knicks but we are doing something right and it feels like we are the center of the world. 🪊 🎺 The garment district BID brought music to Broadway at lunch time. Weather was gorgeous and this band was vibing 🎨 New public art in Union Square! It’s called the BEAD MAZE. Not super complex but joyful and brings smile every time you go past it 💼 Work can be fun. Did a preliminary walkthrough of the latest @OneTimesSquare experience and looking forward to sharing with the world 🎓 Celebrating the (not pictured) graduate at Dirty French 🌈 NYC Skyline just showing off for the weekend. Pride, supporting the Knicks, just a flex? Read it how you want it 🏃 Getting my running back on track. Hudson River Park was next level on a spectacular late spring day 🛕 50th Annual Hare Krishna festival in NYC 🎥 Closing event for Tribeca Film 🏀 TheKnicks win a championship for the first time in my lifetime. This team… They modeled how we should all be. There really is magic in the work. 🦁💪 Closed out the 2025-26 CFUS Bodybuilding year with an amazing pride workout that felt more like a dance party with kettlebells. Love this community and the friends we have all made there.

2026 Week-23 🖼️ Noticing the art in every day. This Murano glass mosaic is entitled “New York in Transit” by the late artist #JacobLawrence. It was his last work of public art before he died in 2020. It was installed posthumously in 2021. I only learned that by looking it up. Challenge yourself to learn more about the art you encounter in the world. 👖🩳 Jorts are back-so it must be summer! @kierahackett_ and @mirandahackett_ had some pointed words but I love ‘em! 🧑‍🏫🎭 Got the exclusive opportunity to watch my buddy #MakStewart slay in MATILDA jr! 🏀 Our @nyknicks took both away games in San Antonio so HAD to rep! 🎂 Celebrating our amazing @mandy.hackett take another trip around the sun with some of the best people!! @abcvnyc , @devilwearsprada2.0 and @vanleeuwenicecream FTW!!! Great week and on to the next one!
