I know it’s out of focus 😵‍💫… just a snippet I recorded earlier this year after setting up my old custom @officialayottedrums for the first time in close to 20 years. It’s funny, just seeing those purple shells set up in their complete configuration, (8/10/12/14/16/22X20!) was like opening a time capsule from the early 2000’s. Kamikaze Baby. Working at the drum shop, playing those first shows. The thrill of creating our own music and the ecstasy of sharing it with our friends and fans in those early grimey venues. Club Zone. Lambi. L’Alizé… what a time to be alive and in a band in Montreal. It was all so raw, mysterious and magical. From a time before the smartphone and other so called “advancements” in technology. Expressing ourselves freely and uninhibitedly. If you were at the show, then you were there to live it with us. No instant replay, no watching it through the little black mirror. Just memories… blurry and faded but real as it gets… like something from a Deja Vu. #kamikazebaby #iykyk

What a time we live in. We are being bombarded with so much confusion, artifice, conflict, and madness from every angle. Trying to maintain a base level of positivity and hope can sometimes feel impossible, let alone mustering the energy to create. I guess that’s why they say creativity is the ultimate act of defiance. To birth something beautiful in this world despite all the forces that would have us cower in fear. Fuck that.

Shout out to all my creative brothers and sisters out there putting in the effort. Daring to dream, daring to bring beauty and meaning to our lives. We love you. We need you. 💙

Taking a moment to process another trip around the sun ☀️🥳 Lots to be grateful for. It’s been a year full of changes; new challenges, new friendships blooming, new music being made and completed. I’ve had to say goodbye to some loved ones, which is always difficult, but ain’t that just the way it goes… ever changing, ever turning, ever hurtling forward on this wild ride…

This past week I got to slow it all down and breathe some fresh country air in the precious company of my family, as well this gorgeous instrument…. a perfect chance to reflect, appreciate life, and pay a little tribute to a musical legend and true master of reality.

Had an amazing night yesterday celebrating true love with old friends. So many faces I haven’t seen in many years. As vibrant as ever. Diving straight into olourful conversations and reminiscing about the early days and the core memories we have of each other and our musical journeys.

Today I find myself reflecting on all those suspended timelines and relationships, just floating on a rainy nostalgia. Grateful for the reminder that what we do as artists carries great meaning. I’m feeling encouraged to connect even more. To create more memories, and to decorate our limited time here with even more beautiful music and art for the ages. ✨🌗💙

Well, 2023 has been a fun ride... So many great projects nearing completion and many more just beginning to peek over the horizon of a new year. I’m forever grateful to be doing what I love and for the undying support of my rapidly growing family. (I became an uncle twice more this year! 😅💙)

One more adventure to sneak in before the ball drops… Heading out west to visit some old (and new) friends

I was trying to achieve the ultimate cavernous snare sound when my good friend, @alonearchitect stopped by for a visit…

Inspired by the feel of this sparse groove, he jumped on my @moogsynthesizers #Matriarch and began painting some analog synth magic for this vibey jam named, “Archie’s Bunker”.

Full video just went live on my Youtube channel. Link in bio.

We started @freqshop as a recording studio for artists but realized that we could be much more. We consider ourselves a platform for artist growth and promotion. We proudly share and promote the many artists we have worked with or are inspired by! Our community and reach has grown to several thousand STRONG !! Today’s message is simple. Give likes, shares, comments and little green 💚 out to artists like grandma gives out candy! Flex your thumbs as you scroll through your feed. It’s a small gesture but one that can help your hard working artist friends immensely. Especially as they release new music. Continue to check out the artists we share with you and spend a few $$ supporting the music you love when it’s possible 💚❤️💚
