⛈️ An amazing, magical mushroom moment shared with my dd today! Listen for her voice!

🥾 We were two miles from home, preparing for an upcoming walk on the #caminodesantiago, when we got caught in that crazy thunderstorm.

🍄 These #lycoperdon or #wolffarts were shooting spores every time a drop of rain landed on them!

👋 to all my foraging buddies! Miss you!

We're giving away one mushroom today, Friday, Aug 19. That's right, just one enormous mushroom!

This black pearl oyster grew after we turned off the grow room for our August shutdown. Yes, it was picked a day late and is a little dry, but it will still cook up beautifully! It's a fantastic candidate for mushroom bacon!

To enter, comment below and tell us what you plan to make. Contest closes at 3 and wonder will be posted here by 4. Pickup Friday night or Saturday.

Multiply entries/comments allowed because this thing is like a Thanksgiving turkey that you'll eat for a week!

🍄 🌿 🌞 What a great #mushroomforay!

We set out in high spirits and covered in bug spray.

The hike started with low expectations given our unusually dry weather. We were quickly rewarded with some great finds, including coveted chanterelles, the odd green cheese polypore, and one lone amanita, which we think is a panther cap (poisonous!)

Our youngest hiker, age 8, heartily endorsed the hike for kids "if you're into this sort of thing!"

Special thanks to Jan for the extra props and Emily of @fwordfarm for the extra knowledge.

Our next hike is planned for July 17th. Stay tuned... We may add a hike if we get some 🌧️ before then!

The #springephemerals were just as exciting as the mushrooms. Dozens of #ladyslippers #blueberryblossoms #starflower

This hike is full, but stay tuned as we add more dates for the season. Drop a comment below if you want to be notified of future hikes!

These gorgeous Shiitake were growing in my compost pile and will be on my plate tonight!

Swipe ▶️ for more pictures!

Sometimes referred to as donko Shiitake, these Shiitake have grown slowly outside during the chilly weather. The cracks are the result of varying levels of humidity. When the air dries, the mushroom stops growing and forms a thick, leather skin. When it rains, they resume growing and that skin cracks, forming these gorgeous designs with various shades of brown.

If you've tried one of our Shiitake grow kits over the winter, now is the time to move them outside and water frequently. You will be rewarded with thick, meaty mushrooms.

On Sunday I set out in the dark and drove to Wayland, MA for the @waylandfarmersmarket. What a treat to see the most beautiful sunrise along the way! I brought farm-made tallow soaps, naturally dyed aprons, a large selection of naturally dyed and natural colored wool for knitting, crocheting and more..as well as special kits, sheep project and tote bags, and fresh eggs!
I wore my #FelixCardigan by @savoryknitting that fellow fiber farmer Mollie Davis @whitedogfarmvt just knit up in our 2-ply worsted Shetland in its natural grey color. We had lots of other handknit samples to show off our farm’s yarns, too, such as @theacolman’s #SimpleDaiquiri cowl in our Cormo DK , @needleandpurl’s #MadderAndMarigoldCowl kits & @mjmucklestone’s #SticksandStripesCowl, @sarahlbarca’s #FromWoolWithLoveShawl, @dreareneeknits’ #Moonwhistleshawl, @tifneilan_handknits’ #CoastalCropRagland, @thisislesli brought her hand knits in our farm yarns and so did @lizperezwilson ….so many pretty things to behold. My friends Darcy @metadarsal & Liz + Lesli all helped me out all day long, bless ‘em, & I got a chance to see some farmer friends, too. The event is just so pleasant & beautiful. I recommend it if you are at all able to make the trip. The drive from my farm is 3 hours. There will be another one on March 6 - I hope I’ll see you there!

Oh, by the way, I finally finished unpacking the van & re-stocked our Etsy shop, so if you think you might like some of the beautiful colors that I dyed last week, go ahead & take a look - it’s wingandaprayerfarm on @Etsy. 🧶🐑🪴
