Last night, @wildbloompoetry 's Under a Haunted Moon open mic featuring most excellent poet and friend Manny Saints. Fittingly, Victor read his "Ode On a Rose From Manny".

“Drunk in poetry and light.”

One guest messaged me she left feeling that way last night. That summed up the night for me too.

More than 85 people gathered, and 28 shared their poetry. Some braved two hours in traffic to be there. Several celebrated a year since they first found us. And still, the evening felt intimate.

Michael Gaspari gave Under a Haunted Moon its sound on the keys. Featured poet, Manny Saints went beyond the assignment and brought a set that felt made for the evening.

Thank you to everyone who shared a poem, listened closely, or came on their own to see what this was all about. And to Emily’s Garden for giving us a home.

Next bloom: Thursday, November 12, at Vizcaya Village Night Market in Miami. Details soon 🌴

19 poets. One full moon.

September’s MOONSTRUCK began with one unfinished line from our October Featured Poet, Manny Saints @mannysaints:

Those seeds like thoughts did you bury, what bounty of dreams did you…

Each poet read what came before them and added one line, without knowing where the poem would end up.

This is where it went.

Written one line at a time under September’s moon.

Under a Haunted Moon 10.21 🌕

An Evening of Poetry & Other Hauntings

This month, we’re leaning into the darker corners of the imagination: moonlight and shadows, spells and strange things, what blooms in the dark, and whatever lingers long after we thought it was gone.

Bring your spooky poems, dress up if the spirit moves you, or simply come listen. Poems of every kind are welcome.

🎙️ Featured Poet: Manny Saints @mannysaints

Manny Saints is a Honduran-American poet born and bred in Miami, FL. He enjoys connecting neighbors and creating empathy through the power of the written word. Touching on themes such as dreams, family, mortality, history, and nature throughout his work.

MOONSTRUCK 🌕

Monthly • Moody • Musings

Once a month, under the full moon, we start somewhere a little strange.

September’s opening line comes from our October Featured Poet, Manny @mannysaints who’ll join us Under a Haunted Moon on October 21:

Those seeds like thoughts did you bury, what bounty of dreams did you…

Read the line before yours.
Add one line.
Leave the next person somewhere to go.

Together, we’ll write the September poem one line at a time.

Stay moonstruck ✨

Thank you to all the folks who joined us down south—despite the last minute summer rainstorm!—at the Gold Coast Railroad Museum for the first info session of the 2027 festival season. Our Sunset Party was a beautiful reminder of the talent, creativity, and generosity in the O, Miami community! See all the photos, captured by @chantal_lawrie, at our link in bio. 📸

We heard from past project managers, unveiled a permanent poetry vestaboard in the museum’s model train room, introduced “La Versicleta” to the public for the first time, and experienced a handful of festival projects reimagined as mini-workshops and tabling activations.

Shoutout to @gcrm for hosting us and to @smashin_down_south for coming through and feeding our people! 🍔

We’re accepting project proposals for the 2027 O, Miami Poetry Festival now through October 15. Send us your ideas—this year’s theme is Transformation 🐛🦋

MOONSTRUCK 🌕

Monthly • Moody • Musings

Once a month, under the full moon, I’ll start us somewhere a little strange.

I’ll give you the first line. You add one line in the comments. Read what came before you and keep the poem going.

No rules about where it goes. The weirder, the better.

August starts with:

Fit bird flying up to the moon says…

Your turn.

RESILIENCE looked like this. 🖤🎤

A room full of stories.
A stage full of truth.
A community showing up, standing tall, and speaking proof.

We came with scars.
We left with strength.
We laughed, we snapped, we felt every word at length.

To every poet who touched the mic,
every voice that made the room ignite,
every person who pulled up, showed love, and stayed for the ride

THANK YOU.

You reminded us that resilience isn’t just surviving what we’ve been through
it’s finding the courage to turn it into something beautiful, too.

@churchills_pub you felt like HOME.
Miami, you showed OUT.
And this community?
This is what Pop Up Poetry MIA is all about.

We bend. We break. We heal. We grow.
Then grab the mic and let the whole damn city know. 🎤🔥

SIP. SPIT. REPEAT.
