Its finished the very first post Calendar Project Aviation Artwork - "Last Seen" (Re-Visited 2024) by Marc Heaton Which depicts in colour this time, the loss of RAF Fighter Leader S/Ldr Brian Lane, DFC, RAF on December 13th 1942 off the Dutch Coast to Fw190's of 6./JG1 (claimed by Oberleutnant Walter Leonhardt) No.167 (F) Squadron (RAF Coltishall Wing) RAF Ludham, Norfolk Between November 1941 and February 1942 Brian 'Sandy' Lane served on staff appointments in the Middle East, before returning to the United Kingdom to command No. 61 Operational Training Unit. On 9th December 1942 Lane took command of 167 Squadron. Four days later he was up in the morning for a familiarisation flight then in the afternoon Lane took off, in Spitfire Vc AR612 'VL-U', with three other pilots for a Rhubarb operation over Holland. During the Rhubarb they got into combat with FW 190's from 6./JG 1. The combat took place at zero feet and Brian, whose wireless set was not working, was last seen diving down on the tail of a FW 190.  The Spitfire V was inferior to the FW 190 and also operating a long way from home, and probably getting low on fuel. At some point during the engagement the tables turned on Lane and he was shot down into the sea approximately 30 km West of  Schouwen island by Oberleutnant Walter Leonhardt. Lane's body was never recovered from the sea. To this day he is still classified as Missing in Action and he is comemorated on the RAF Runnymede Memorials Panel 65. No.167 Squadron's motto was 'Ubique sine mora' - 'Everywhere without delay'.

For more info about the festival go to www.manifestartsfestival.com STANDARD The exhibition explores to what extent the gallery format can deliver reactionary observations whilst simultaneously taking the long view. It poses the question, ‘What is the place of the artist, is it to intervene or observe?’ Including artworks by Marc Heaton, Denis Whiteside, Alison Timmins, Andy Smith, who also proposed and curated the exhibition with invited guest artists, Liam Ainscough, Rob Gittins, John Wineyard, Jane Lawson and Paderborn, German artists Elmar Brinkmöller and Martin Veit. The exhibition results in a spectrum of bold and oblique responses to the relentless struggle for power. Exhibition: Preview Thursday 6th July 6-9pm 24th June – 6th August 2017 Open Thursday to Sunday 11am – 5pm neo:gallery23 The Market Place Bolton BL1 2AL United Kingdom In Visible Lines Part of Manifest Arts Extras For the first time ever, Scaffold Gallery presents a collection of pre-existing works, with the exhibition In Visible Lines. The show has no theme, no concept. Instead, Scaffold has invited artists to submit a piece made within the last year they have not yet exhibited. Once the show is installed, the artists will engage in a private seminar, where they will take part in conversations to try and find hidden links and conceptual connections between the various works. The results of these conversations will form the context for the exhibition and be presented amongst the works in a new interpretation of the ‘group-show’ format. Castlefield Gallery’s New
