I recorded a quick video reminder of the hip flexor relax for a client—with the #nycmarathon2019 beginning in a few hours, I decided to share it with everyone. I don’t have any clients running the marathon, but all of my clients are doing the equivalent of 6-8 marathons a week and tight hip flexors, like IT Band issues are something we deal with when we have an unstable pelvis and haven’t built abdominal, butt, and hamstring muscles to support and stabilize our pelvis.
We are cued and taught to “release” and/or stretch our hip flexors. I’ll argue that if you have tight hip flexors, stretching them is not allowing them to calm down and let go or their grip on your world. This will. [Reminder to relax the side that doesn’t grip as much first. cc. @annaleigh_ashford ]

Congratulations to @laurabenanti and the beautiful team at @myfairladybway ! What an honor it was to spend some time in your underground lair from October-March. Watching, listening, and engaging with @adelemiskie , @malloryrinker , and the delightful David in the “place where she lives” —while getting to do my thing to help stunning @laurabenanti do her thing was the greatest treat.

And the welcome energy of everyone involved, not to mention the hugs from “Geoffrey with a G!” are things I’ll carry with me forever.
The photos of Laura in yellow were shot by @_chris_sorensen on the day he and @peterjmarks visited.
I believe I saw every member of this company in every track from October—March —so I know they will knock it out of the park again today. Use your core #teamMFL! And @laurabenanti , wow them!!💗 #occupationalathete #becauseitshouldnthurttodoyourjob

In honor of @barconventbrooklyn in town, all my theatre people in a post @thetonyawards haze, and a host of musicians out on tour, I’m posting a close up of the first part of Hand Release —I’m not certain how long I’ll leave this up, so take notes.

Part 2 tomorrow.

She didn’t actually need me, and still it was so nice to get to muck around a bit on @lctheater ‘s new @myfairladybway —the incredible @laurabenanti ! I can’t wait for this super hero of a human to tell me Eliza’s story tonight!

Marcia Polas believes physical careers don't have to come with an expiration date. Rather, her Occupational Pilates teaches clients how to understand and use their bodies so that "incurable pains" heal and working hours become their power. At @foodandwine, I talk with hospitality industry veterans about their most exasperating injuries and legit criticisms of "wellness" programs, and explore in detail what @polaspilates offers in response. (Search "Meet the Food World's Pilates Teacher" for the story!)

A little preventative taping was in order for @mhibiscus (@tales_of_the_cocktail #BestAmericanBrandAmbassador) to rock a charity shift at @coupnyc . Let's stop believing pain is normal - or the price you pay to do what you love (or have the body you want for that matter). Start the conversation. Learn how to care for your fascia. Get help to use your body in an organized fashion on the job. ...because it shouldn't hurt to do your job.
xo Misty. You are a fierce and beautiful woman!
