Marco Cochrane’s R-Evolution was recently dismantled after standing tall at the foot of Market Street for the past year and a half. She had a good run and will likely find another home somewhere soon.

OJO in the SKY 🙌

«Sirius» es el tema instrumental que abre el álbum Eye in the Sky (1982), de The Alan Parsons Project.

Dura apenas 1:54 minutos y funciona como una introducción atmosférica, con sintetizadores y una melodía épica que enlaza directamente con «Eye in the Sky».

Una curiosidad: «Sirius» es el nombre de Sirio, la estrella más brillante del cielo nocturno.

La escultura es R-Evolution (I Am) de @marcocochrane

Saying goodbye to “R-Evolution” by Marco Cochrane. Love her or hate her, she has reigned over Market Street with strength and grace over the last year and a half. I’m going to miss her.

You won’t see this giant installation here for much longer…

And we came to say goodbye ❤️

This is R-Evolution — an iconic work by artist Marco Cochrane, created for Burning Man 🔥

After Black Rock City, it made its way here to the Ferry Building, where it became part of San Francisco for 18 months. ✨

During that time, it witnessed music, dancing, gatherings, and thousands of people.

Now, its chapter here is coming to an end…

But where will it go next?

Maybe its next chapter is already beginning.

See you somewhere on the playa ❤️‍🔥

Sad to see @marcocochrane ‘s @sheisart_iam (aka R-Evolution) is leaving her spot on SF’s Embarcadero, where she’d was always a welcome sight . Despite the sunglasses shtick I went for a few hours of burner proximity at @bigartloop ‘s farewell event, with @syd_gris doing @opulenttemple things, @dejasolis & Ultimate Fantasic, DJ Manynames in the crowd, @heartfull_katy (not pictured!) & more. Sad to see her go… #burningman #burningman2026 #civicart

I’ve always been in awe, but never really knew the story behind these women.

Today, it was an honor to bid adieu to R-Evolution and finally understand that @marcocochrane work has always been about something so simple and so powerful: SEEING WOMEN. SEEING US.

Thank you to @dejasolis, the powerful muse, for guiding us through such a beautiful, mindful moment together. In a heavy time, it felt really nice to feel connected and be reminded that we are better together. ❤️‍🩹

♀️The most female empowering sculpture of San Francisco will disappear from Embarcadero tomorrow..

R-Evolution @sheisart_iam inspired and motivated me every morning when going to the office.

Can this beautiful masterpiece by @marcocochrane please be gifted back to the city and @bigartloop ?

Some of my favorite photographs are happy accidents. 🌕

Last December, I went downtown to photograph the full moon with the @ferrybuilding in the frame. While I was moving around looking for compositions, I realized that from the right angle I could catch the moon shining through R-Evolution.

That wasn’t the photograph I had gone there to make.

Once I saw it, though, I couldn’t stop playing with the alignment, moving around Market Street as the moon appeared through different parts of the sculpture.

The discovery was an accident. The photographs after that weren’t.

Which makes today feel like the right time to finally share them.

After becoming part of the San Francisco waterfront for the past year and a half, R-Evolution is preparing to leave Embarcadero Plaza. Created by @marcocochrane, with Deja Solis as artist muse and collaborator, the monumental sculpture has been hard to miss, but what I’ve always loved about her is how peaceful she feels despite her enormous scale.

Tonight, Big Art Loop is hosting one last public celebration beneath her before dismantling begins October 12.

San Francisco changes constantly. Things arrive, become part of the landscape almost before you realize it, and then disappear again.

I’m glad I happened to be standing in the right place, on the right night, when the moon gave me a completely different way to see her.

Farewell, R-Evolution. ❤️
