Do YOU want a short horror book for #summerween2025 ?
Do YOU like (or hate) spiders?
Do YOU want to be grossed out with some #bodyhorror
Do YOU love multiple POVs telling a story?
Do you want your skin to feel like it’s crawling?
Then this book: Red Inside by @bnelsonauthor is for you!!!!!
I flew thru this book and enjoyed every minute of it! Told mostly in POVs of the healthcare workers dealing with a new “tropical disease” on their floor, this story is about a scientist who gets infected by a #superspider in the tropics and the story goes wild from there!
I know that Bridgette has been a huge reader for decades (and a healthcare worker) and it shows in her writing! Check this book out @marcyreads @_myfictionalworld @bnelsonauthor

Golden Hour Stack 🧡🌅

It’s a short period, but golden hour in the UK this time of year is beautiful with the sun so low in the sky. But you have to be quick and that’s if it’s a rare enough occasion to not be overcast😂

See any books on this stack you’ve read or are planning to read this year?

I’m tagging a few people to show off their golden hour or sunset stack and absolutely no pressure as usual!

Have a fantastic weekend everyone 📚

𝐒𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐓𝐚𝐠 🔪
—
𝐐𝐎𝐓𝐃 - 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐦? 𝐀𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲, 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠?

Thank you to the lovely @fall.leaves.and.books.plz for tagging me to answer some fun slasher themed questions. Tagging a few others to join in, but no pressure.

🔪 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐢𝐫𝐥 𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐬?

Final girl, as long as they’re deserving & didn’t survive solely due to some moral superiority over their friends/other victims (i.e: being innocent & “pure”). If they’re shallow or lacking depth, just off them with everyone else lol.

🩸 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐬𝐲𝐥𝐮𝐦?

Neither option would be my top pick for a slasher setting, but I think an abandoned asylum would fit the vibe a bit better.

🔪 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐫 𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐞𝐫?

Masked, of course.

🩸 𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐫?

Oof, tough. Maybe Halloween horror? I enjoy both, though.

🔪 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐤𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥?

Creative kills, no question. Love a killer with an inventive brain.

🩸 𝐡𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐨𝐫 𝐫𝐮𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞?

Knowing me, I would end up running for my life without thinking. Then either trip & break something, or get lost, making the slashers job far easier than it would be if to were to hide.

🔪 𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐰𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐡𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞?

Haunted house, ofc.

🩸 𝐠𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐫 𝐮𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝?

Another tough one. I love a good ghost story, but prefer urban legends when it comes to slashers.

🔪 𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐨𝐫 𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬?

As long as I’m left out of it, go ahead & combine the two.

Photographed is one of my favourite reads of 2024, 𝙄 𝙒𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙏𝙚𝙚𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙎𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙗𝙮 𝙎𝙂𝙅. I read it back in June, & it instantly jumped to the top of my favourite slasher books. If you’re a fan of the genre, don’t pass this one up. Blurb in the comments.

I’ve really been loving cozy mysteries. Check out @marcyreads,she highly recommended “On Spine of Death by Tamara Berry”. I actually found out about Cozy Mysteries last year from her book recommendations and I am so happy I did. So of course I had to check it out. And it’s a series, which I am excited about, so I am starting with Book 1. Okay, all I had to know about this book when researching the series is it’s set at a rustic cabin in the woods, a murder, and Bigfoot, I don’t know how he comes into play but that’s a sold for me. I am usually a touchy, feely kind of person when it comes to my books and I like to have a physical book in my hand, but I’m going with my Kindle on this one.#cozymystery #buriedinagoodbook

𝐐𝐎𝐓𝐃 - 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐠𝐨-𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬?

I get the majority of mine on here from friends whose taste typically aligns with mine. Out of all the book communities I’m part of on various social media apps, I find bookstagram the most reliable. I’m less often disappointed by the recommendations I end up reading. The 𝙍𝙀𝘼𝘿𝙀𝙍𝙎 𝘼𝙇𝙎𝙊 𝙀𝙉𝙅𝙊𝙔𝙀𝘿 and 𝙇𝙄𝙎𝙏𝙎 𝙁𝙀𝘼𝙏𝙐𝙍𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙏𝙃𝙄𝙎 𝘽𝙊𝙊𝙆 sections on Goodreads are my next best bet.

Now onto 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐬𝐢𝐱 of the 𝟏𝟎 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 (I’m doing a lot better with this challenge than I have previous ones - I thought I would be progressing a lot slower). I picked up today’s TBR book after seeing @mother.horror’s post stating it may be a new all-time favourite of hers. The 𝙉𝙚𝙬 𝙔𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙏𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙨 𝘽𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙍𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙚𝙬 quote on the cover (“𝘼 𝙛𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙩 𝙜𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙘 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙚𝙫𝙤𝙠𝙚𝙨 𝙎𝙝𝙞𝙧𝙡𝙚𝙮 𝙅𝙖𝙘𝙠𝙨𝙤𝙣’𝙨 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙃𝘼𝙐𝙉𝙏𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙊𝙁 𝙃𝙄𝙇𝙇 𝙃𝙊𝙐𝙎𝙀.”) also influenced my decision.

Find a full synopsis of 𝐀 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐛𝐲 𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐬 (@𝐤𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐜) in the comment section below.

Tagging a few more people to do today’s challenge (post 10 books you want to read for 10 days), but no pressure. 🖤
