Four performances. Four different approaches to sound, technology and instability. 🌐 On Friday 25 September, @e_ptrs & @kaarst.la , @mari_mako_ , @edwinvanderheide and @hiiit_music come together at WORM for V2_Live: Still Unstable. The evening moves from the underwater sound world of Every Breath a Surge to Mári Mákó’s self-built cyberpunk string instrument Cy. Edwin van der Heide revisits his early electronic performance Solospel, before Joāo Borralho (HIIT) joins him for Overspel: an improvised duet for percussion and live electronics. Across the programme, instruments are built, modified and reimagined, exploring what happens when sound, bodies and technology become unstable. Friday 25 September Doors 20:00 / Start 20:30 Location: @worm.rotterdam , central station Tickets €7.50 Part of Still Unstable: 45 years of V2_, 24–26 September 2026.

A look back at X SONIC ACTIVATION, presented as part of our latest exhibition Cosmic Knots during Art Basel. Set within X — the kinetic techno sculpture by @gabor_kitzinger, @andrasnagy.xyz, and @rozi_mako — the activation unfolded as a live dialogue of sound, movement, and light. Through experimental performances and audiovisual interventions, the sculpture became a responsive instrument—its rhythms unfolding through resonance, improvisation, and spatial interaction. Don Simon (@smnkrbs)
Swiss artist, filmmaker, and photographer Simon Krebs performed under the name Don Simon, a sound project built entirely from cassette tapes. Using tape loops, spoken word, field recordings, and ambient textures, he created immersive sonic landscapes that moved between deep listening and rhythm. Mári Mákó (@mari_mako_)
Composer and researcher working between Rotterdam and Berlin, Mári Mákó explores electroacoustic experimentation, contemporary classical composition, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Her practice investigates the materiality and spatiality of sound through performance and self-built instruments. Robin Michel (@robinmichel9599)
Swiss sound artist, composer, and performer Robin Michel works across composition, improvisation, performance, and installation. Through spatial audio and experimental interfaces, his practice explores perception, time, and the materiality of sound. Visuals: Gábor Kitzinger (@gabor_kitzinger) Presented at Franck Areal (@franck_areal) as part of OMG! Franck Festival (@omg_franck) and @artbasel, X SONIC ACTIVATION formed one of the live chapters of Cosmic Knots, where sound, sculpture, and performance continuously reshaped one another.

A few reflections from working backstage at the opening of the @0xcollection during #artbasel What stayed with me the most were the conversations with the artists and getting a glimpse into everything that happened behind the scenes. The extra mile everyone goes to make an experience feel effortless. The quiet moments before the doors open. The mutual admiration for each other's work. And the relieved toast once it was all over. It reminded me how much care, coordination and invisible work goes into creating a space where art can truely be experienced. And what more made this team so special was the way everyone showed up for each other. There was a genuine shared commitment to making the opening the best it could be, and that collective energy was palpable throughout the evening. I'm grateful to have been part of it, and I'm leaving with a lot of inspiration. 🧡 #backstage #art

Second Approach was opened with a six-minutes live DJ composition inspired by Béla Bartók’s In Full Bloom, setting the tone for what was about to unfold. The climax was the wonderful piece of György Orbán’s O María performed by the internationally renowned Ars Nova Vocal Esamble conducted by Katalin Kiss.

From exposure to exhibition. A 2.5-meter analogue photograph was installed for the first time. What began as a fleeting encounter with light now occupies architectural space, inviting a different scale of attention. A photograph is never finished in the darkroom, the scan, or the file. Sometimes it reaches completion only when it meets the wall — and the viewer. Second Approach is curated by Viola Lukács Grateful to Bálint Liptai, Krisztián Megyeri, Kubo, and Peter Fleidrich for their support in bringing this exhibition to life.

On monday this week, we celebrated the opening of Cosmic Knots, a constellation of immersive installations and live performances presented during Art Basel week. From the cosmological visions of Mariko Mori (@marikomori) and the sensory environments of Kurt Hentschläger (@kurt_hentschlager) to the entangled sculptural forces of Gábor Kitzinger (@gabor_kitzinger) András László Nagy (@andrasnagy.xyz), and Rozi Mákó @rozi_mako), the programme brought together artists working across light, sound, code, and time-based media. The opening performance evening at @trafohalle featured Alva Noto (@alvanoto), Grotesque Gymnastics (@teri.gaspar, @ilka_bardoczy, @kudlakeszti @marcellnotfound), Mári Mákó (@mari_mako_ ) and (@dj_dork_). Thank you to everyone who joined us for this remarkable event! If you haven’t yet experienced Cosmic Knots, the installations remain on view at the silos of Franck Areal through 20 June, daily from 5–11 pm. Admission is free. We also invite you to join our curatorial tour with @violukprojects tomorrow at 7:00 pm at Franck Areal (the Silos). Presented within the framework of @artbasel, in collaboration with OMG, Franck! Festival (@omg_franck). 📸: @chillnroll

@mari_mako_ is a composer and researcher working between Rotterdam and Berlin. Her practice moves through electroacoustic experimentation, contemporary classical composition, and interdisciplinary collaboration, producing work, described as avant-garde electronic and post-club, that is controlled, abstract, and dense with detail, engaged with the political and philosophical stakes of how we listen. Collaboration is central to her method: she works inside hybrid territories where composition becomes inseparable from object-making, choreography, light, and theory. She designs and builds her own instruments, treating instrument-making as a compositional and conceptual act, a way of negotiating agency with materials that resist full authorial control. In performance, this commitment extends to the human voice, which she renders tactile and tangible, softening the edges of her sonic architectures. As a PhD candidate at MOME Budapest, she investigates sound sculptures and the sound of sculptures, alongside technologies that explore the materiality and spatiality of noise. Recent collaborations make these commitments concrete. With choreographer Sofie Kramer, she has developed a performance in which the pole, that overdetermined object of contemporary visual culture, becomes the mediating instrument: “We see that the mediator, the pole, is encapsulating the modern material world, which we transform with the help of sensory design. By turning the pole into a ‘living’ entity with sounds, we can break down and develop another sense of ritual.” For Bernar Venet’s Generative Environments at Sotheby’s New York, she composed the sound component, translating Venet’s sculptural logic into a sonic field. At the Trafohalle, Mári performs with @gabor_kitzinger, whose cinematographic light environment becomes the spatial counterpart to her sound.

0xCollection is pleased to announce Cosmic Knots — a presentation of immersive installations and live performances. Before there was matter, there were knots: two species of cosmic string, wound around one another, locking into stable topological structures from which all existence unraveled. The exhibition moves through what the body has always known before language could name it — across the sensory environments of @kurt_hentschlager, the cosmological visions of @marikomori, and the entangled sculptural forces of @gabor_kitzinger , @andrasnagy.xyz , and @rozi_mako . The installations open at 6 pm on 15 June and remain on view daily 5–11 pm through 20 June. Franck Areal, Horburgstrasse 103, Basel. Free to the public. Monday, 15 June · 7 pm Trafohalle, Therwilerstrasse 56, Bottmingen. Tickets are available via our Linktree in limited quantities. Opening Performance Evening with @alvanoto · Grotesque Gymnastics @teri.gaspar · @mari_mako_ · @dj_dork_ Presented within the framework of @artbasel , in collaboration with OMG, Franck! Festival @omg_franck .
