POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This week at The Hivery, we broke. It. Down.

We defined cortisol, stress, and how the rhythms of life can impact our nervous system and readiness for exercise.

We learned how to better plan our weeks around high versus low intensity training and to account for life’s events side by side so that we don’t find ourselves spinning out last minute and going either too hard or ditching our workouts completely.

It’s a tricky balance, and some may argue “balance” isn’t real. But when it comes to managing our energy and making our health non-negotiable alongside our work and life, there’s always a way to adjust the dial.

When we understand our health, we stop guessing and start choosing. Thanks to everyone who showed up to this month’s discussion.

Join us next month at @thehivery!

A week on from our @sipsandstoriesmarin fall event and we’re still smiling. Our hearts are full! We felt so much love, support, and enthusiasm in the room from friends, collaborators, event partners, and friends we hadn’t met yet. Thank you to everyone who showed up, supported us, and helped make the evening so special.

In the days that followed, the event took on a life of its own online. The outpouring of messages, photos, reflections, and kind words was incredible and, if we’re being truthful, a little overwhelming at first. We weren’t quite sure how to hold it all.

Then we realized something rather lovely. We had helped create an experience that was no longer ours to hold.

It now belongs to everyone who was part of it, shaped by what each person took away from the evening. Whether that was a moment of inspiration, a meaningful conversation, a new perspective, a potential collaborator, a new friend, or simply the joy of being in a room full of wonderful people.

And isn’t that the magic of community?

It’s a beautiful reminder of just how much we need these opportunities to come together in person. To put down our phones, share stories, learn from one another, spark new ideas, and find our people.

We’re still soaking it all in, feeling incredibly grateful, and more determined than ever to keep creating thoughtful gatherings that shine a light on the people, brands, and businesses shaping the fabric of Marin, while finding creative and meaningful ways to connect us to the place we call home.

Thank you for being part of the story. We can’t wait to see where it takes us next!

With love and gratitude,
Sophie & Megan

Last time, I asked what question you’re still carrying.

This time, I want to share a leap from my own story.

That leap scared me. I said yes anyway.

At this gathering for women building community, I shared the origin story behind that leap.

Sophie and Meghan, thank you for hosting such a wonderful event. Grace, thank you for the opportunity to reconnect and share my story. And to all the women in the room: thank you for being part of the conversation.

I left thinking about how one honest story can help someone else imagine a next step. You don’t need the whole plan to begin. Purpose over perfection.
If you were there, say hello in the comments or send me a DM—I’d love to stay connected. And I’d love to hear: what leap are you glad you took, even while you were scared?

Follow Essential Ingredients for more honest stories and curious conversations.

Thank you again to our hosts @cuppaculture.social and @thespoonlist .

I’ve been going on retreats for over 30 years. I’ve seen the highest of highs and lowest and lows and that’s why I have become the retreat concierge extraordinaire!

Retreat season is just around the corner! I’m already laying out my bowls, chimes, oracle decks, Unicorn figurine, and everything I’m going to need to get myself ready for my November retreats! I’ll be gone pretty much the entire month of November assisting not one…but THREE retreats. I absolutely cannot wait, and it’s not too late for you to join me.

Have you been on a yoga retreat, fitness retreat, personal development retreat, or health and wellness retreat before? If life ever offers you the opportunity to go on retreat, you should take it! Like I always say, you have to tune out to tune in.

-When was the last time you got out of town?
-When was the last time you put down your phone?
-When was the last time you got bodywork on the beach?
-When was the last time you took a sound bath under the starry night sky?

While I don’t know when your last time was, I can absolutely tell you that your next one (or first one!) could be with me and my warm and welcoming friends on one of these incredible upcoming retreats! Take a look—

How is your week so far?

I looked at my calendar and noticed we have a big ol’ lunar eclipse tonight…the days leading up to an eclipse, the day of, and the days after are a great time to press the pause button and LIE DOWN.

Animals and nature sense the interruption to the normal flow of sunlight…and humans do, too. (Astrologers think of eclipses as power outages.) It’s best not to overload your circuits. Take a break!

I’m taking my own advice and easing off the gas pedal as summer begins to wind down. I’ve been giving myself slower mornings and treating myself to my LED face mask. I’m spending time in my backyard practicing meditation, dabbling in artwork, and hanging out with my crystals. The more active periods of time in my day include getting on my trampoline jumper, followed by long slow walks with my dogs. If you too are dreaming of simmering in the sauce of the last few summer weekends before we begin the transition into the darker colder months, this is your sign to press pause and treat yourself to my sound bath!

If the transition from August to September ever has you feeling out of sorts, you’re not alone. The August full moon tomorrow night is the “sturgeon moon” or “harvest moon.” It’s the time of year when we harvest the abundance of everything we’re reaping at the end of summer. This is the time of year that marks kids going back to school and everyone else getting busy with end-of-year activities.

This transition can feel jarring, because September still feels like summer, but everybody’s shifting back into a regular routine, which means you may also be making shifts to your daily and weekly routines. That’s why I’m bringing back online weekly Zoom classes with Maxwellness. I’ll pop into your inbox with more details soon, but for now, I’m cooking up an offering of classes full of sound baths and grounding slow-flow yoga peppered across each week!

Click the link in my bio for your FREE sound bath! 🎶

Let’s vibrate together!

Grateful on Monday, Week 90: @thehivery. I became a member at this beautiful workspace in November last year, but when I joined their Incubator program in February of this year, that’s when I really dove in and became a member of this beautiful COMMUNITY.

These joyous pictures by our beloved @sarahderagon capture our particular Incubator cohort - the community I feel so bonded to starts with these ladies, for sure. And, with every event and with every co-working day I attend, that community gets so much wider and goes so much DEEPER.

What founder @grace.hivery has built feels like magic, but I see every day that it is the work of a smart, intentional, brilliant woman, and the smart, intentional, brilliant women she has brought together.

If you’re curious about @thehivery or the Incubator Program, please don’t hesitate to ask me or anyone at The Hivery. Do this thing. Say YES. Bet on yourself. You might be very surprised by all that shows up. 🐝
