✨ Solo Bookish Day to London ✨

I was lucky enough to get a ticket to @lucysbookclub proof party for the wonderful @niamh_connolly and her debut novel We Go Way Back!

An early start led me to the beautiful @the_bookelephant

A warm welcome by Lucy, Niamh and the team from @hodderstoughton @hodderbooks

I loved hearing about Niamh's writing processes, inspiration, love of dark humour and how she loves to write about love in all of its messy forms. Niamh read us the opening of the book and I can already tell I am going to love the balance of humour, love and complex relationships weaved within.

Niamh is such a deserving winner of the Women's Prize Discoveries award! This is when I knew I had to get hold of this debut. I was in awe from when Niamh first spoke at the awards earlier this year.

My day didn't end there. I connected with some wonderful people, great conversations about our shared love of all things books and life!
@bloomingbooks.ldn then joined my nervous self and we explored Daunt books, encouraged each other to get 'just one more book' and these beautiful prints obviously deserve a beautiful tote bag. Finished with some well deserved cocktails!

My worries were quickly squashed by the kindness and welcoming nature of everyone I met today.

Don't let your fears get in the way, get comfortable with being uncomfortable and embrace all opportunities that come your way!

I told him, “Me too.” 😂

June was a month of revelations. I saw myself fail a lot. It’s very humbling. To see yourself so clearly. But it’s beautiful too, to know where you’re coming from. I hold these two truths in tandem; that I have not arrived, but I have come so far.

I also soared this month. Launched a new business (follow @marukah_). Wrote a lovely essay about being ‘bad’ and writing. Finished teaching my lovely cohort of writers with @listenjournal. Volunteered at a literary festival. Spent an amazing month at the residency. Made some more progress on the proposal. Taught an amazing workshop. Spent some time with my girlssssss. Wrote a song! Learnt a few hard lessons but most of all? I learnt afresh that the feet of God is a place of endless return.

This book is a masterpiece in articulating the shared experiences of so many women, how we reckon with internalised misogyny, carry shame as women, and the labels given to women that box us in and the systems that keep us there. You can buy it now from all good book shops (it’s the non fiction book of the month from @bookkindshop )!!!

I urge every woman and man to read this book- pass it on to your parents, your kids, your friends, your partners. It’s truly eye opening and articulates so many things I have struggled to say aloud myself

Feb book club dump ❤️😈📕

Thanks so much to everyone who came to our book club last night! We had our book club chat followed by a discussion with @tobicoventry about his book He’s The Devil. Loveeeed hearing even more the book and his inspo and writing.

End of November already? This year really flew by. I made a conscious effort to cut back on social media and catch up on some reading earlier this year, and I'm so glad I did. Here's a throwback to my first book club and cocktail night in London with @service95bookclub. The combination of tasty cocktails, lively book discussions, and great company gave me so much energy 📚. And, I even met a new friend!

I chose a book to bring home at the end: Anthony Bourdain's 'Kitchen Confidential' and nearly finishing it!
