A tribute to the culture that taught me the meaning of hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance 🇲🇽🌞

I am a proud First Generation American on my father’s side and First-Generation college graduate- terms that are now suppressed in education here in Florida. I pursued a career in education with the hope of making social change. Education is a powerful tool that not only teaches you to think critically but also offers a means of social and economic mobility. So it is no surprise that it became a target.

It is soul-crushing to watch a field I once cared about so much fall to the bastardization of the Trump administration. Leaders cowardly comply with immigration crackdowns and the defunding of DEI initiatives. They have cut federal funding directly supporting students from underserved populations, and now I have to witness institutions meant to protect students comply with ICE. I myself have been forced to remain compliant in my own career, having to avoid phrases such as “diversity”, “first generation”, “minority”, and removing my work from any real sense of social activism. The purpose and drive behind my career have been stripped away, causing a decline in passion and mental stability.

I watch as my own identity is not only censored but also becomes a target of fascist ideology. It started with the policing of language in education to now witnessing families being forcefully separated, individuals being detained without due process, and victims brutally murdered in daylight.

So while I feel like I cannot make the difference I hoped for in my career, I will do so through my art. I will be creating a series of artworks for sale, with 75% of the profits going directly to the Immigration Defense Network whose mission is to defend immigrant rights. And to all the students, whether in college or in High School, I hope you continue to exercise your right to protest and call out an administration when it fails to protect you!

Please take care of one another and pay attention to what is happening to this country.

I would categorize this year as a year of character development with some really high highs and really low lows! But it was all necessary. Started off the year with some negativity but I’m ending it reflecting on all the amazing things that happened and all the amazing people who I get to experience it with💕

As someone who gave up on a career in the arts in thier early 20s out of fear of not being good enough, this year taught me to go after what I really want in life. Even if it fails, it is better than living a life of not trying.

Goals in 2026: Embrace the whimsy ✨Embrace the cringe 🙂‍↕️✌️ Enjoy how far Ive gotten. I’m ready for my 2010’s sitcom era 🥰

With all the recent orders rolling in, I just want to take a moment to say thank you for all the love and support you’ve shown my small business ❤️. These last few days it’s been nonstop printing, cutting, packing, and restocking—and I mean that in the best way possible! I juggle a full-time job in addition to my art, but it keeps me busy in the best way. It’s the kind of stress I’ve been wishing for, and I hope to continue sharing my art with the world! 🐾💌
Sincerely,
A local artist from Orlando, Florida, with a dream to do this full-time 🙂

@taylorswift using my stickers to decorate her bread??!?!? 🥖✨ As a small artist, moments like this remind me why I do what I do — Knowing something I made ended up in her hands (and on her bread!!) is beyond my wildest dreams 🩷

Also thank you to everyone who has been messaging me with support and love!

You can buy my stickers on my Etsy and website: MJArtandDesignCo (Link in bio ⭐️)

Hi...so this is my second day of posting, and I just wanted to take a moment to touch on my job. 😊
- Okay, where do I start? I guess it began sophomore year, when I was applying for jobs on Handshake. I was looking through positions, trying to find one that would fit me best. I began thinking back to when I’d seen these places on campus and how the people working there seemed. That’s when I distinctly remembered my first year, when I went to my first job fair, and saw all of the career center staff sitting at these tables, looking so official. In my eyes, they just seemed so cool 😎 and on top of things. That made me wanna apply instantly. I wanted to be a part of this cool squad that helped out students on campus with all their job needs 😂 it sounds silly saying, but I’m not sure, in the moment it really stuck in my head.
Fast forward about a year and a half-ish later, and I can say joining the career center has been the best decision I’ve ever made! I’ve never worked somewhere where my creativity was so encouraged, where work felt like play, where I enjoyed being with my coworkers every minute. Till this day, I look forward to coming into work, being able to chat with my peers and bosses, being able to bring my ideas to life, so on and so forth. I’m so, so lucky! ❤️😌 this year, our entire staff has put so much effort into creating our upcoming part time opportunity fair, and I’m so excited for everyone to come see it. We have awesome employers joining us and so many different resources that’ll be available there. We even got Apple to sign up! Shoutout to all the staff, Lesa, Marina, and especially Amanda who’ve put in so much work ✊ if you wanna come check it out, it’ll be tomorrow in the USC Ballrooms from 11am-2pm 😊 love you all!!
