"Morning Glow" by Marjorie S. Hicks AIS makes the case for slowing down and noticing how good simple things look in the right light. She’s an award-winning painter, a teacher to thousands, and clearly someone who can make flowers and fruit feel extra important. 🍊

What a wonderful art event. I am taking part in 3 categories. Portraits. Landscapes. Wildlife. Be great to have your support! 😄

Having fun beatin’ the heat in the studio. A few days ago I posted a study of the same barn but in morning/backlight. Went back in the afternoon for front light view. Did some Notan sketches which help to quickly capture a sense of light (before my face melted off in the intense heat). ☀️🌻 #landscape #landscapepainting #oil #oilpainting #cobraoils

Workin on some li’l 8x10 studies to use as reference for larger paintings. For me, working small promotes playtime, which enhances intuition. Then I try to channel that experience in the larger painting. A similar process to Plein air painting, where I react in the field and reflect in the studio. #summerfarm #oilpainting #cobraoils #sunflowers #landscape #workshops paintingdemos #vimeo

Part 2. The work is expanding and the background is encasing the portrait subjects. However, I enjoyed going back to the jacket and working on the pocket. It pops out. I hope you like this piece as I am loving the making of it.
