We visited @_lightroomldn to see @davidbowie you’re not alone - there was lots of rare footage layered, collaged and projected in that huge immersive space.

Fifth and final piece from the works made for @collagewave Barcelona

I was thinking about these works and how the organic elements sprang forth from the more abstract compositions during the making process… When the world feels as wonky as it does currently, perhaps those of us that believe in people, in unity over division and the possibility of a fairer, more peaceful and compassionate world must hold fast to the belief that hope exists and can always grow - even against the odds… even in small or everyday and unexpected ways…

Had a wonderful couple of days at this years @designfestbrum conference & workshop.

Play was the theme, and it was great to see how each of speakers interpreted it & allowed play pour into their practice. So many takes aways that resonated. My highlights were @t_e_m_p_l_o branding exploration for @gfsmithpapers @kellianderson @studiodumbar @chrisclarkecc @malikafavre @george_wu_ @icantaffordthisbutmaybeshecan @javier_jaen Indiana Jones and the creative process had me howling, genius!! 🙏🙏🙏

Alongside the conference, I was lucky enough to bag a ticket to the @jimmyturrell @neasdencontrolcentre workshop. I loved the fast pace nature of the workshop, getting ideas down quickly and going with your gut - literally the definition of playing. It was fantastic to collaborate with an awesome group of gals on a banner too 🫶.

At the heart of this event are some amazing folk who make this all happen @luketonge @danielalcorn (absolute legends), the delivery team and all of the volunteers. Hats off! It always gives me such pride to see our students & alumni supporting - what stars you are 🤩. And lastly, this year’s branding WOW by super talented graphics alumna @rosie_clarke_ was another highlight for me 🔥🔥🔥 Smashed it lovely - so bloody proud of you.

I say this each year, but this event is always a calendar highlight for me, this community and brum have my heart and I’m feeling forever grateful 🫶

#GRAINatTEN #PastProjects

From 2018 - 2020 photographer @misskatiepeters was commissioned to make work as part of #CelebratingAge, a project that explored ageing and its representation.

Kate and the GRAIN team worked with residents of three Lench’s Trust housing schemes in Birmingham, engaging with older individuals and utilising photography to commemorate and narrate stories of families, childhood, professions, war years, special occasions, and memorable events, the project took place over 18 months.

In meetings and workshops, residents shared photographs from their personal collections and family albums, recollecting the time and place depicted in the images. The project effectively, through participation, explored and told the history of the city.

Kate made new portraits of the residents, using their stories and old photographs as inspiration.

A selection of the residents’ photographs, snapshots of their memories, and the portraits made by Kate Peters have been curated and published in a small photobook. ‘We Went Mackerel Fishing One Day.’, was designed by @mark_moif as a keepsake and documentation of the project.

GRAIN gifted portraits to each of the participants and a collection of the portraits to the three housing schemes.

‘Celebrating Age’ is a partnership with the Lench’s Trust, generously supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

35mm photographs taken on Pentax ME Super of the PV for re/done exhibition at Parkside Galleries for @admexhibitions last week. It was a real honour to have my work on show along with that of so many other incredibly talented artists / designers - @beckistheprintingtype, @oliverhwells, @adam_guy_artist, @ripitup_startagain, @beingmalcolmgarrett, @moif_collage, @blackcountrytype, @davidoz, @xpatrickthomas, @thomasgravemaker, @redplatepress, @phil.cleaver, @tomtebby, @andrewkulman, @carlmiddleton_studiob, @gd.graphicss, @johnhallpainting, @theadoradesign, Millie Bright, @adamconstantine and Ed Catley (I hope I haven't missed anyone out!) some of whose brilliant work I managed to photograph.
