Pretty fun surprise in my inbox yesterday. ❤️

Spartan used my photo and story in an email promoting its obstacle workshops — and that photo is actually from my very first Spartan race.

Before that race, I took the obstacle workshop because I wanted the chance to learn the obstacles before seeing them for the first time on race day. It helped me tremendously.

And the funny thing is… I still take them.

Even as an age-group podium finisher, there is always something to improve — technique, efficiency, obstacle confidence, and definitely the spear throw. 😂 I also love getting time on the course the day before a race and the chance to practice the obstacles.

One of the things I love most about this sport is that you never really finish learning.

You just keep showing up, practicing, and getting a little better. ❤️

✨ Finding joy everywhere.

San Antonio showed up and showed OUT. ⚡️
Hosting DEKA STRONG, MILE, and ATLAS over 2 consecutive weekends was a movie, but what made it truly special was the community behind it.
To every gym owner, trainer, coach, DEKA World Championship qualifier, client, RUCK division, volunteer, and every kid in our youth division—thank you.
Seeing local fitness leaders, seasoned competitors, and the next generation of hybrid athletes all under one roof, putting their fitness to the test, was incredible. The energy was unmatched. Whether you were out there on the floor pushing your limits or screaming from the sidelines to cheer on your clients, training partners, and friends, you created an atmosphere that defined what San Antonio fitness is all about.
We brought the grit, the support, and the standard. Appreciate every single one of you for being a part of it.
Until the next one. 🦍🔥

Colorado Springs Beast

Great day for a race. Got sunburned but was nice overall.

I felt way more prepared for this beast compared to my last one in November.

I know the training was a huge part of that. Only cramped up once.

Beautiful venue. Lots of cool people here today.

Super and Sprint tomorrow for trifecta weekend! Aroo!!

Using the gram as a memory book with a collection of fitness things from the past year to remind myself that I can, in fact, do hard things.

2025 felt like yet another “starting over”… but frankly one that has brought me SO much joy.

I took risks. I started over. I tried new things. I let go of things I loved. I grew a lot. I learned a lot. I made space to breathe. I prioritized myself. I healed. I reconnected with me. I leveled up. I said “yes” to things that excited me. And “no” to things that drained me. And I accomplished SO much more than I thought possible.

I’m damn proud of me. And looking back on all these big things brings me immense joy because I remember a little version of me that would’ve say “there’s absolutely no way”.

As for present day - I’m currently working through a knee injury that’s sadly making most of the movements shown presently impossible. 🥲 The injury is a bit of a multifaceted orthopedic doozy with some longstanding impacts that might influence what fitness looks like for me going forward. It makes 2026 feel like yet another “starting over”.

But as evidenced by last year… I’ve got a pretty great track record for redos. 🙏 😉

You better believe I’ll work like hell to make sure it doesn’t stop me or slow me down. Being patient and religious with rehab and advocating for my health (on all fronts) is my current obsession. Fingers crossed it pays off 🤞

If you read all that - thanks for sticking with it. And I hope you enjoy all my grumpy lifting faces 😂 I promise I was having the time of my life 🤍

For the future version of me that wants to remember all the lift details I’m proud that I got to this year:
Hip thrust: 335x5
Deadlift: 215x5
Back squat: 195x3
Db snatch: 60x4
Renegade rows: 60x8
Bench press: 130x3
Db push press: 60x3

Strong Co-ed Teams 60-79 with @mark_richins

This past year has been a whirlwind and I know I’ll have plenty more to say once I’ve had time to fully collect my thoughts. But for now… LFG!!!

And to Mark… thank you. You’re an incredible teammate and coach and I’m not sure I have fully expressed how much having these events to work toward helped me this year. (But I’m sure I’ll also cover that in depth later 😂). As it stands, thank you for pushing me, believing in me, teaching me, and giving me something to work my ass off for these last 7 months.

Obstacles = Opportunities‼️ #AROO 🤘Got an impossible task? Keep at it. I don’t think I’ve completed Olympus unassisted in a couple years. I’ve practiced different holds, techniques, and strength training. I was always gassed 😤 by the time I reached it on course. I’m not reluctant to ask for help but I like to do it on my own. Last race of the year, racing with some solid bros, and it all came together. I gave it a shot. And it flowed. What hard task, repeated failure, or nagging project do you have on your mind? Give it a go!!! Do what you know. See if you can find a flow. 🏄🏾‍♂️ What have you got to lose? Try, try, try, again! #holygrit #ocr #spartanrace #fatherfigure #noburpees #olympus #tenacity

Sometimes the best therapy is mud, miles, and familiar faces. 🛡️🔥

Wasn’t supposed to be here this weekend.
I was drained—physically, mentally, emotionally. Needed space to breathe.

Then something in me said go anyway.

So I did. 50K Ultra on Saturday. 10K Super on Sunday. Left it all out there—legs shot, heart full.

Turns out the real recharge wasn’t just in the miles. It was in the people. The handshakes, the laughs, the familiar faces that reminded me why I started.

Sorry if I missed getting a pic with you! Catch you at the next finish line!
