Meet us at Impact Speed Fest 2026

Experience the preservation of one of the oldest surviving right-hand-drive Porsche 911. Built during the first year of 911 RHD production, this car belongs to the very first batch of RHD car to leave the factory and is now undergoing restoration here in Bangkok.

Presented alongside the bodyshell is a collection of exceptionally rare, original components, carefully sourced over many years for this restoration. These parts have been prepared and are ready to be installed, offering a rare glimpse into the first chapter of the Porsche 911.

Follow-up on the 1967 Gulf London Rally engine-bay photo.

In my previous post I shared a period engine-bay photo from the 1967 Gulf London Rally. It shows car no. 4, the Scania-Vabis entered Porsche 911 of Björn Waldegård / Lars Helmér, registration B 34880, who finished 2nd overall.

Two other early 911s were also in the rally. Car no. 1 was the sister Scania-Vabis Porsche 911 of Åke Andersson / Sven-Olof Svedberg, registration B 70046, finishing 3rd overall. Car no. 3 was the Porsche 911S of Vic Elford / Terry Harryman, registration S-YS 848, which retired from the rally.

Although some lists describe all three cars as 911S, the visible details on the Waldegård and Andersson cars — especially the interior mirror and trim — suggest that the two Scania-Vabis cars were standard-trim / non-S 911s prepared for rally use. Elford’s car appears to have been the actual 911S, coming from the Porsche/Stuttgart side. ——— The Waldegård engine-bay photo raised a few questions because it shows both a double coil and a double fuel-pump setup. Since there is no obvious twin-plug distributor or second set of plug leads, I believe the second coil was most likely fitted as a rally reliability / quick-changeover spare. The double fuel pumps were probably there for similar reasons: reducing the risk of fuel-pump failure, fuel starvation or vapour-lock issues during a long event.

The engine-bay decals also seem to have a red border, although the picture quality makes this hard to confirm. The sound-deadening mat is difficult to read as well. I hoped to compare more clearly with the original mat/pattern on my own car or in the factory brochures shown in the added photos.

What I would really like to find are more period photos of this exact Waldegård car, or of Vic Elford’s 911S from the same rally, ideally showing the engine bay. Tomas L. owned the Waldegård car at one point, so maybe he — or someone else with period photos or later documentation — can help complete the picture.

For Sale! 1968 Trans Am champion car. In 68 a group of privateers with a junkyard 912 set out to make history. 911s were not heavily raced at the time so no knowledge or parts were available, the team consisting of Tony Adamowicz, Don Breslauer and Mac Tilton built a super competitive car using a 2.0L 911 engine built to 906 specs with Solex carburetors - to get every advantage they could (see one of my posts earlier this year to learn why Solex make more power than Weber). The transmission was modified so they could swap gears at every track, an experimental ultra short ring and pinion was acquired at the Porsche racing department so they could reach peak RPM immediately and jump ahead of the much more powerful 5.0L Shelby GT350s and Camaros. Tony knew that if he could get in front of them then he could stay there, out cornering and out braking the much larger cars. Their efforts paid off, they won 1st place 6 times out of 8 races and placed 2nd the other 2 races. They were so successful that the Porsche factory racing team manager at the time sought them out at their hotel one night after a race to personally congratulate them for their performance. Tony won driver of the year besting Mark Donohue who came in second. Tony went on to much bigger and faster race cars but this was the car that launched his career.

This car for sale - first, the original car was lost, last seen being parted out at a junkyard in the Midwest. It is believed to have been crushed. In 2008 the original group of guys came back together to recreate the same car - this is that car. Built on the same style 1968 912 chassis. They incorporated all the same design features that won them Trans Am. The engine on this car has recently been rebuilt with zero miles on it. It needs all the consumable race car items refreshed in order to go racing: tires/seatbelts/fire suppression system. It has a California title and could be converted to an awesome street car. Comes with 3 exhausts and some spares.

Priced to sell - well below what it would cost to build anything close, send me a DM if you are serious.

32 years of restoration - you end up having tons of small parts. Stuff that is absolute gold when building a car. Keep in mind this supply has been picked through for years. 10 years ago I had 3 times more than this 😆
