Congratulations to our 2026 Markert Strong recipients❤️ Kendra Jones, Ethan Guillen, Nolan Barnard❤️
Tonight marked the fourth year that we have awarded a scholarship in honor of Jackson. Prior to this year, we have always chosen the recipient as a family. However, since Jackson belongs to the Class of 2026, we knew there was absolutely zero chance we could be objective. We chose to outsource the decision process to protect the integrity of our organization and honestly, to protect our hearts. We are so grateful to the committee of local, trusted individuals for helping us with this. Out of our largest applicant pool yet, it feels extra meaningful that two of Jackson’s oldest and best friends were chosen along with a sweet girl who lost her brother last September. They are all so deserving on their own merit but it feels extra special that it worked out this way. It still doesn’t feel real that Jackson isn’t here to do all the things his peers are doing but we are so proud to honor him and his life.

I lost my best friend Jackson to cancer at the age of 14. No 14 year old can comprehend losing your friend you grew up with that young. As this month is to bring awareness to childhood cancer, it’s more than just a month, it’s real life and should be brought to awareness all year. Jackson would’ve turned 18 yesterday (9/10), and deserves to be here more than anyone. I love and miss you Jack, Happy Birthday bubba, this week is for you.

We cannot thank our incredible City of Waxahachie enough for officially recognizing September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The struggle and heartache these families have faced on their unique cancer journeys cannot be understood by most of us, but we hope the love and support from their whole community can bring them comfort.

✨Markert Strong 11 Days of Christmas✨
We didn’t feel ready last Christmas and I’m not certain we were ready this year either (imagine two adults sobbing in the toy aisles) but we felt the pull to make it happen anyway. The six of us shopped for kids on the oncology floor at Medical City (delivered by @lbarnard04 and some of Jackson’s sweet friends), we did some random acts of kindness around town, we loved on people whose hearts are aching in unbearable ways right now. It was unorganized, messy, heartbreaking and just overwhelmingly sad. But it was also a chance to tell Jackson’s story and a way to honor him this Christmas. He wanted @markertstrong to be a source of support for other families enduring hardship and we will keep doing just that for as long as we are able. Our goal is to have an actual plan before the next holiday season and to involve other people that knew Jackson’s heart for giving. We are so grateful for all of the @markertstrong support that made these special moments of giving possible❤️

2023 Briskets and Bombs!! Thank you to our parents and players that donated silent auction items and their time to make this event a great one. Special thank you to our Indian Baseball Family, Wynne Stallcop for cooking our delicious Brisket! We raised $3000 and were able to split that equally to 3 great local organizations that help fight childhood cancer! Thank you to Markert Strong, Anna’s Bake Sale Foundation and Parker’s Pals Foundation. This was our 2nd time to have this event and were able to triple our donation from last year. I can’t wait to raise the bar next year! #exceedtheexpectation #hachiegoesgold
