Try collecting the far-side arm next time you are in side-control. Cutting off an escape route forces them even deeper into the hole you want them in. It also gets their attention off the arm you are attacking, ripe for collection when the time is right, right before you do it (or control it and take your time…dream on Dreamers!).

Matk is a two-stripe white belt and exactly where he’s supposed to be at this stage, in my profeshunul opinion.

🏝️Kava is healthy alternative for jiu jitsu athletes who want to go out but not consume alcohol or calories. You can drive home. You can work your remote posish there. You can order a pizza from @fmpizzaoven 🔥 and eat it right at the bar 🥳

@islandrootegad is a bomb place to meet and bring friends or a date. And it’s a great alcohol-free environment to hang with your students. Had a blast hanging with my clients @markmoyou and Max. Good dudes right here, both exactly where they are supposed to be in their jiu jitsu journey. Happy for the guys.

🙌🏼@markmoyou gets his first stripe‼️ Bro is a professional in every sense by all accounts. Business, fitness, character…you name it. The one thing he felt he needed was the confidence in his ability to protect his family, at all costs, should the situation arise. Well, it did, and he reports that after training with me, he recognized all non-verbal queues leading up to a negative altercation, and was able to avoid the conflict by maintaining a hard-target and projecting confidence. I could’ve awarded him two stripes today, considering he’s headed to Lovato’s Retreat in Montana next week (lucky!!) and one-stripe is not indicative of his level (yes, there absolutely is a difference between and one-stripe and two-stripe white belt…some one-stripes get theirs on day one because the assistant professor is awarding stripes in the beginners class tonight). Mark has locked in privates with me each week through next summer. By then, I imagine we’ll see a blue belt and much more lethal man! Congrats, bro! And have fun in Montana!!

🔥@motivatedtrini awarded his white belt🙌🏼 Mark is an annual member who decided to push his current knowledge (and comfort!) zone by adding the gi to his martial arts journey 🫡

After his first 60 minutes he felt like he began to grasp the positions well because we focused on movements so much up to now. He’s getting an hour+ of mat time with a bona fide black belt instructor and authority figure in the Jiu Jitsu community (in my own mind).
