🇵🇹⬇️//🇬🇧 CONVENTION Even though LeiriaCon officially ended on Sunday, that does not mean we have stopped thinking or talking about it. 💭
.
Thank you to everyone who warmed our hearts and who makes this convention a place unlike any other we have ever been to. After 4 full days and 2 half days, we already miss everyone and everything… 💝
.
We came home with 1 upgrade and 7 games: wooden money for Speakeasy and Duck & Cover (bought at the convention store), Melt Water (bought in the used games area), The Mind, Spring, Duel for Cardia, Metro, and Odyssey, gifted by @devirportugal. 🎲
.
LeiriaCon 2026 had 41 plays across 30 different games, with 20 different players, totalling 29 hours of play time — not bad! @leiriacon, see you in 2027! 🗓️

@leiriacon 2026 is now in the rearview mirror, and I’m still lingering in that slow, back-to-real-life drowsy state - while already anticipating what next year will bring.

☀️ It was painful to see the trail of destruction left by storm Kristin across the area, but the constant sunshine helped elevate a spirit of hope and achievement - it’s impossible not to feel humbled by the resilient spirit of all Leirienses, given what they endured.

So despite all the difficulties, the biggest Portuguese convention again took place and brought us 4+1 days (we went earlier for a warmup) filled with highlights.

♥️ The main one being as always the people. Companionship is why we congregate around board games after all, and there was no shortage of amazing moments amongst friends, both old and new.
Thank you to everyone whom we shared a table with, a chat, a meal, or simply a hello or a smile.
(quite a few probably forgotten in these pics or mentions, apologies and rest assured we will meet in the near future 😊)

🎁 We had a sneak peek at @devirportugal and @pythagoras_games ‘s upcoming catalog for the Portuguese market, and there are some cool titles lined up.

And yeah, we also played games! 16 plays of 14 new-to-me titles. I enjoyed all of it - some I’m keen to revisit, others might already be on their way into the collection 🤭
A top 5 (in no particular order):

🕌 Baghdad: The City of Peace by @alleycatgames

🦫 Kingdom Crossing by @sorrywearefrench

🐉 Emberheart by @mindclash_games

🍻 Heaven & Ale by @eggertspiele

🎌 Nippon: Zaibatsu by @crowd.games

Thank you to the @spielportugal team for (once again) working tirelessly to bring this amazing convention to life, and we’ll see you next year!

On Sunday I played Honshu, Garden Nations and Neotopia (a @gamnificent and @orlandolopesdesa prototype)🥰

Honshu is that type of card game inside a small box that brings a lot to the table! You have to build a city, by laying cards below other cards or on them. But it adds a twist with a bidding mechanism! A really nice and apparently well-balanced way to score the cities.

Garden Nations was ok, seems like it has a reasonable amount of things to explore but we were not particularly hoping to play it again. But it will be a right hit for a lot of houses.

Neotopia has all the potential to become an hit in every gamers that play with their family, their friends or gamers that like light games when it comes to rules but with some depth to it. Neotopia is a game where you are building a futuristic city and creating patterns that allow you to have points. The game SHINES and I mean It, because of the way you have to focus on building the three parts of the city. If you focus on only one, you’ll not win. Have an eye out for this one, because I feel like it’s a hit in the making.
