Last week, I was in Charlotte, North Carolina, at @unccharlotte’s @cltgalleries for the opening of Holding A Bright Untroubled Sky: Visioning A Better World Through Magic, curated by the visionary @amyhale93. It was a profoundly moving experience to meet the other artists in the exhibition; speak about our work with students and faculty; share studio visits; and witness the impact this work is having on the next generation of artists emerging from the program. Last Wednesday, I activated my artwork, A Spell For The Next 6,000 Years, in a gathering filled with heartfelt prayers, care, and intention for our interconnected human and more-than-human futures. I’m still feeling the presence of that ritual, as well as the many activations, performances, conversations, and moments of connection that unfolded throughout the trip. My deepest gratitude to @amyhale93 for bringing us together and holding firmly to this expansive vision for a show about magic during one of America’s, and the world’s, most challenging times. Thank you also to Adam Justice at @cltgalleries for ensuring the exhibition was installed with such beauty and thoughtful care. Congratulations to all of the artists involved. It is an honor to be in community with you. ✨ PS. I also forgot to mention that this all happened during a Full Moon in Pisces and A LUNAR ECLIPSE 🤯

The new semester is here, and a new world is indeed possible. As part of the exhibition 'Holding a Bright Untroubled Sky: Visioning a Better World Through Magic,' the mural designed by London-based artist Mark Titchner (@marktitchner) greets new and returning students to Rowe Arts with a positive and optimistic message. Mark's work will remain with us throughout this year, reminding us to always look forward and never underestimate the power of new possibilities.
