If you're in Vienna this week, consider this your sign to get out and do something different. 🧡 Here are a few ideas...

What happens when photography meets music?

At Parkside Gallery, the landscapes and everyday observations of Harald Woschitz and Markus Oberndorfer meet the sounds of baroque violin (Aliona Pietrowskaja) and soprano (Katharina Linhard) in a dialogue between image, sound, and perception.

Side by Side brings together four artists of different origins, shaped by life in Vienna, with an opening programme spanning opera, contemporary music, Chinese musical references, Balkan traditions, and Persian, Kurdish, and Afghan sounds.

In SOUND / SURFACE, Denis Yashin turns physical vibrations into visual forms, letting sound, movement, and material shape the canvas.

Bringing together performance, dance, sound, and collective practice, Choreopolitics of Joy explores how bodies can challenge expectations, disrupt established norms, and imagine new ways of being together.

This evening brings Persian, Kurdish, and Afghan music, literature, and storytelling into dialogue, with live performances, shared stories, and plenty of room for exchange.

Still looking for plans? There’s always more to discover. Explore exhibitions, concerts, performances, artist talks, and cultural events across Vienna on myCULTURE.app — and find your next reason to go out and experience something new.

Over the past couple of years, images have made their way from the Evangelical fringes in the US to the mainstream, mostly through TikTok. Struger takes an AI-generated depiction as a template and hand-copies it into physical form, using a traditional bronze glaze and historical metal-casting techniques. The result looks like an object from pre-Christian mythology around 4000 BCE, but it’s actually a precise reproduction of AI animations from 2023 and 2024.

Can You Hear the Ground Is Shaking?

This is part of a body of work drawing from domestic environments, inherited visual cultures and contemporary media. The paintings reconstruct spaces of memory, not as fixed representations of the past, but as shifting fields of perception. A kneeling figure in a reflective suit forms a counterpoint to the suspended movement of the motocross riders. The tension between stillness and motion, memory and space, remains unresolved.

Time’s Place In Space (Cap Ferret, 2024)

This work is part of Markus Oberndorfer’s project Foukauld, in which he has documented and reflected upon the disappearance and appropriation of the bunkers on Cap Ferret (Aquitaine) for more than twenty years. The video uses visual language that makes visible the slow, continuous change brought about by time, climate, and everyday use — a process that often remains hidden from the casual viewer.

Deconvolution of things

The Gaia Hypothesis, which views the planet as a super organism, forms the foundation of the story for the digital game within the installation. The ludic objects in the installation explore symbiotic relationships between actors and agents.
