“When do I know it’s time for new hair?”

This time of year, especially with clients wanting a change and the holidays around the corner, I get asked this question a lot!

When I’m consulting with a returning guest, I always start off the conversation with “Hows your hair doing?! What are you loving and what do we need to change?” I like to also ask how the length is feeling... If you’ve had your extensions for 6-8 ish + months and the length is starting to feel too short for your liking, that’s when I’d recommend we replace the hair back to a longer length.

Are you itching to drastically change the color? Yes, the extensions can be low lighted and toned down, however if they are on their last leg, it’s smarter to replace the hair to ensure that the wefts won’t fade. Can the wefts be lightened? Can they? Yes. Will I? Definitely not! I won’t do anything to my clients wefts that I know may compromise the health of the hair. That’s when replacing the wefts or adding a few new blonde ones is the way to go!

Wefts excessively shedding or feeling brittle? Let’s be real... we can all be a little rough on our hair... & as the wefts age, they can start to empty out a bit. For this reason, it’s important to ask your stylist what brand of hair they are using! The higher end, more luxurious quality = the softer and more nourished the hair is = giving you more longevity with your gorgeous locks. Also using the correct home care regimen prescribed from your stylist will prolong the extensions as well!
