Let’s talk about my friend, Carl…

Carl married Kris 35 years ago. They bought a house together and raised 4 kids in it.

20 years ago, Carl moved out. He built a new house in English Turn and started a long-term relationship with Sandy. They had 3 kids together and raised them in that house. Sandy loved him and took care of him ‘til his last breath.

A few weeks ago, Carl passed away.

He had a will. It left everything to Sandy.

But here’s what most people don’t know about Carl: back when he was only 18 — years before he even married Kris — he had a son, Carl Jr., with his high school sweetheart, Renee. They never married, but he sent money every month until he turned 18.

Eight people in this story believe they know exactly where they stand. Kris. Four kids with Kris. Three kids with Sandy. And Carl Jr.

In Louisiana, a will saying “everything to Sandy” almost never actually means everything goes to Sandy.

This family is about to mess around and find out! You be the “judge”…because this one is definitely going to court! 😜 What do you think happens? Drop your guess below. 👇 AI and attorney answers don’t count!!! 👀

At the @urbanleaguela #Declaration2026 Conference, I challenged us to rethink the Black Economy. Nearly 19.5 million visitors spent $10.8 BILLION in New Orleans last year. On our music. Our food. Our festivals. Our CULTURE. But here’s the question: How much of that economic value is actually OWNED by the people whose culture drives it? Visitor spending isn’t profit. Economic activity isn’t generational wealth. We have to move beyond participation to OWNERSHIP—of businesses, real estate, festivals, intellectual property, and supply chains. Because we shouldn’t just be the culture that drives the economy. We should be owners in the economy we drive! #Declaration2026 #BlackEconomicPower #GenerationalWealth #OwnershipMatter
