‘An Unprecedented Birth’
[ october 2026 ]

Last week, I had the incredible opportunity of delving into the stories of some brilliant women, alongside this company of phenomenal women 🩷
A week later, I’m still really grateful for the whole experience and in awe of everyone involved in it! Hoping this project continues to flourish and has a beautiful future ahead ✨

On Monday I walked into a rehearsal room, slightly nervous..as you are the first day of a new job! And as actors we have that ‘first day of school’ a lot 😅😃

We were all carefully cast by the wonderful @elizabeth_godber the brains behind this whole thing and along with the women on the stage, our wonderful director @milliegaston the whole crew were also women! I can honestly say this has been one of the most empowering, emotional, joyous, hilarious, uplifting, healing (the list goes on) weeks of my life. And it’s all down to the wonderful women I’ve been surrounded by this week 🤍

Thank you to Liz for trusting me to share my ladies story (a verbatim piece) and for the emotion and healing I felt personally through it, being a mother myself (and my youngest is a lockdown baby too). This project really is so special ❤️‍🩹

Thank you to these wonderful women who have been so much more than new team mates this week. It’s been such a long time since I have done live theatre and thank goodness it was you who I got to get back on the horse with!

I guess you could say it was unprecedented! 👶🏼🤰🏼

So much love 🫶🏻

Detail-Post incoming ✨

• the rest of the week was all about indie cinema - lucky kiddo that I am, I was invited to come to @notfilmfest and dive into pure indie-magic set in bellissima Italia, not only being inspired by the most amazing people but also able to binge watch so many sweet and touching, thoughtful, spooky, funny movies! Here is what I could catch:
• Sauna sickness spoke to each and every woman in the room when it comes to the phenomenon of male incompetence of being a decent person. Showcased brilliantly!
• Ferine opened the festival - complimenti @_andreacorsini - I was brave enough to watch it, no idea when I watched a horror movie for the last time! A daring film asking the question about superiority, dominance and powerplay

• great panels, such as a deep dive into the world of film festivals - thank you for sharing your thoughts and expertise @alizelatini , @nicki_nikitin and #peterbaxter

• enjoyed the future forward shorts by filmmakers under 27 y/o 👏 @celena___veiga congratulations again! Also snipped touched my heart, what a clever showcase of differences and commonalities

• had a blast with Buckets by @banana_stevenson & @rgitsme 🤩 so much fun watching this one!

• another gem of the week Superbuhei by @josef.brandl - you got us all down the rabbit hole of Schnaps 🫗

• got lost in the best way possible within the experimental screenings 🌊 congratulations @magda_celmer I lovedlovedloved your performance in woman in the sea! Also wildly impressed by wild eye pub! 💛

• my sports-heart got spoiled with the next section and especially @giuseppe_lanno s documentary „reality is worse“ about a Sicilian football club that urges to bring back soccer to the people instead of just exploiting it for prestige. A very touching film that gets your blood boiling ab

“An Unprecedented Birth” @hulltruck on 10th October

In the initial Covid lockdown of March 2020, countless women gave birth under extraordinary conditions that no one could ever have imagined. Drawing on interviews with women from across the world, this new verbatim play explores the highs, lows, and strength of those women. These are their raw, honest stories, from laughs on zoom quizzes, to partners waiting in the carpark, and everything in-between.

This script-in-hand sharing will be followed by a post-show discussion with the cast and pregnancy experts, we well as opening a dialogue with the audience.

Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England

NOT Film Festival 2026

Feeling incredibly grateful for such a beautiful weekend celebrating some truly inspiring independent filmmaking at @notfilmfest.

I’m beyond excited and so proud to say that @eencinosogil98 and I won Best Performance – Director’s Cut for ‘Right Here In Hull’

None of this would have been possible without the wonderful force of nature that is @marthapgodber and her incredible charity, @godbertheatrefoundation

Thank you for inviting me to be a part of this, for believing in us, and for making the whole experience something I’ll never forget. It was such a privilege to be surrounded by so many talented and inspiring people, and I’m incredibly grateful to have been part of it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Just a lad from Hull on the big screen in Italy.🇮🇹

Still can’t believe that these past few days happened, so happy to have been able to see the world premiere of ‘Right Here in Hull’ at the amazing @notfilmfest . Had the absolute best time meeting some phenomenal people and watching some brill films. But to top off the week we only went and won ‘Best Performance’ in our category🙌🏻🏆

Massive shout out to my film partner in crime @laurajenniferbanks for absolutely smashing it!!! And the biggest shout out to @marthapgodber for not only Writing, producing and directing the film, but also for making this week possible for us!!🙏🏻

So amazing to see the hard work and dedication from the team that all put this film together and still pinching myself at the fact I’ve just watched myself on a cinema screen!
