What a joy to spend an afternoon with so many women having honest conversations about menopause, sharing a laugh and learning together. Thank you, Prevention, for bringing us together for your World Menopause Day celebration. 🤍
⁣
I was especially happy that nutrition and exercise education had a place at the table. These can be our secret weapons through this stage, and women deserve practical information about how to use them, particularly when the things that used to work for us start feeling a little less reliable!
⁣
Knowing how to adapt the way we eat, train and recover can help us feel more confident about what to do next. I’d love every woman to have access to these conversations, along with support that takes her individual experience seriously.
⁣
It was a privilege to share the day with @effiegoodthanks @mary_coustas @drsarahmckay @doctorginni @drgeorgiarigas and our wonderful host, Prevention editor Zoe Meunier. Thank you for bringing so much knowledge, humour and honesty to the room.
⁣
A big thank you also to the sponsors who helped make it happen: @aestheticsrxskincare @edenvalewines @berleiaus @nu_allume @besins.healthcare @burgenbreadau @sanitarium_au @letsbefrank 💙
⁣
To everyone who came along, thank you for your questions and for sharing your experiences so openly. Were you there? I’d love to hear what stayed with you!

Why should we talk about menopause? We thought we’d let the women in the room answer that one. ❤️

Because every woman deserves to feel heard, informed and supported. Because sharing our experiences helps break down stigma, challenge outdated attitudes and remind us that none of us has to navigate this stage of life alone. And because the more we talk, the more we learn. The more we learn, the more empowered we become.

At Prevention, we believe that changing the conversation around menopause has the power to change women’s lives. And seeing hundreds of women come together at our World Menopause Day event reminded us just how important that conversation is.

Let’s keep it going.

Special thanks to @ali_lennard @mary_coustas @amandaramsaymakeup @josiesjuicejournalist @fluffy.bennett and Wendy Lipski for sharing their thoughts.

Think you’ve left it too late? This message from Mary Coustas, the amazing woman behind Effie, was such a beautiful reminder of what is still possible.

I asked Mary what advice she would give women who want to make the most of this time in their lives. She generously gave me permission to share her reply.

What stayed with me was the invitation to keep our passions and dreams alive.

What would you begin if you gave yourself permission?

Thank you, Mary, for your encouragement.

If you know someone who needs this, please share it.

It’s never too late to do what you love and become known for it.

💙 Every decision in health has a human consequence.

A policy written. A treatment approved. A technology funded. A service designed.

Decisions made in rooms where the people most affected aren’t always invited.

And somewhere, someone has to live with the outcome.

That’s why we built Humanise Health.

Not as an afterthought. Not as a box to tick. But as expertise that can fundamentally change the direction of a decision.

Because the question shouldn’t just be whether something works on paper.

👉 It should be whether it works for the people whose lives depend on it.

We make health personal. And we believe that’s how you make health better. 🩷

Nobody warned us that our skin would basically have a second adolescence during peri+menopause..

@kimzacharia__ is our resident RN and the first person our patients speak to before seeing a doctor. She knows this stuff and she’s living it - so when she talks skin changes in midlife, we listen.

Here’s what she’s dealing with:

🌵Dryness and dehydration that’s gotten worse (thanks, dropping estrogen).

🆘 Increased sensitivity and reactivity to products she used to tolerate fine.

This can show up as:
- Periorbital dermatitis
- Adult acne making an unwelcome comeback thanks to hormonal fluctuations
- Reduced firmness and elasticity from thinning skin

The skin stuff is real, it’s common, and it’s connected to exactly what’s happening hormonally.

The good news? There’s real solutions available at UnPause.

Book a telehealth consult with one of our doctors and start getting answers that make sense for you today. Link in bio.
