New work for @albany.studio. When this house was originally built for the Stude family in 1952, Miesian design was becoming the standard for modern architecture. Steel and glass was preferred, but architect Hugo V. Neuhaus chose wood framing and cladding for the exterior, a common choice for modernist residences in Texas at the time.
Albany Studio was commissioned to renovate the entire primary suite, as well as add on 450 SF to the existing home, a carport, expand the master bathroom and add a laundry room. The original drawings apparently showed a hint of the carport which was never built. The large porthole was added as something of a nod to Neuhaus’ own home on Lazy lane.
This is the second time we’ve been asked to photograph this site, which overlooks Buffalo Bayou and features meticulously maintained gardens.

It's a perfect weekend and weather to get a coffee and enjoy our public parklet full of native Texas plants and grasses.

The family had owned this rural property for years. They needed a place for large gatherings, separate from the 1850s farmhouse. So the architect drew a pool house, and we built it.

The architect drew a home inspired by classic New England and European masonry farmhouses. We focused on the execution to ensure this new build carries that historic character.

A Chef’s Kitchen built to work as beautifully as it looks.

This kitchen is all about the details. Custom beaded inset cabinetry, finished in a deep blue pigmented lacquer, creates a rich, timeless backdrop while the brass hardware and light stone bring just the right amount of contrast.

From the inset construction and integrated appliance panels to the floor-to-ceiling cabinetry and custom details, everything was built specifically for this space.

30 years of building cabinetry one project at a time.

From this to THAT! 🤩 What a transformation! We took this space from a blank slate to a completely custom, one-of-a-kind built-in, and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!
Can’t wait to see how our clients style it and make it their own. Stay tuned for the final pictures! 👀 #

The vision was ambitious.
The execution had to match.
